Alexander the Great is known as a symbol of naval prowess and strategic brilliance. He conquered a lot of land before the age of 20 years old. There’s many people who don’t really understand how great Alexander really was. So which accomplishments truly earned him this prestigious title? It is a well known fact that Alexander left a long-lasting legacy as well as a profound impact on history. He was brave and courageous, which made his troops fight even harder. Alexander's vision for a united and culturally diverse empire also exemplifies his greatness. In contrast to many conquerors of his time, he wanted to combine, and did not want to annihilate other cultures. He aimed to create a mixture that combined cultural boundaries. Alexander the Great wanted to create a lasting legacy of unity among other cultures. In spite of the greatness of Alexander, his legacy isn't without controversy. The speed of his conquests made people think of him as a ruthless and power hungry conqueror. When he conquered Thebes in 335 BCE and the violent incidents at Persepolis in 330 BCE are reminders of the darker facet of his ambition. In conclusion, Alexander the Great’s greatness can be a combination of army brilliance, his way of keeping his troops spirits up in the heat of battle, and being imaginative and unsuspecting for a united empire.
