Who is Amelia Earhart? Amelia Earhart was an American aviation pioneer and author. She was the first female to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Amelia Earhart was born in Atchison, KS on July 24, 1897. She then mysteriously disappeared on her travel across the Atlantic Ocean. It is thought that sometime on June 2, 1937, and within hours there was a search rescue team sent out looking for her . The team could not find her and to this day they still haven’t found her remains or the plane wreckage. There is many theories as to what happened to Amelia, some say that she was stranded on an island and died there without food. Others say that the plane ran out of gas and crashed into the ocean and she drowned.

Amelia Earhart was married to George P. Putnam, he was an american publisher and explorer. George also received fame as one of the successful promoters in the United States during the 1930’s. Amelia’s father Edwin Stanton Earhart worked on a railroad and was a lawyer, however he was not a very rich man. Amelia’s mother, they are named after each other, Amelia Otis Earhart but was short for Amy. She courted Edwin for years and then finally they got married and had Grace and Amelia. They didn’t have much money as a family of four. Amy made dresses and cooked for her family. Grace was Amelia's sister, and they were like best friends they shared everything together. She was the first women to fly over the Atlantic solo. She wanted to be the first to do something. We don’t know if she was a Christian or what her religion was. Hopefully since she knew that she could die we would hope she is a christian knowing this. She hopefully flew this plane for the glory of God and for him. God gave His son for something he loved, us. Amelia gave her life for something that she loved and cared a lot
