American Apparel American Apparel is an LA based clothing store that was established in 1989 and just recently announced that there doors will be closing by the end of April 2017. The company made the announcement before the new year that all 110 U.S. locations will be closing soon. It was a shock to many that such a popular clothing brand could go out of business so suddenly, but there were many flaws and reasons as to why the company failed. Some of the reasons for closing include; Bankruptcy, the scandalous owner and advertisements, and lastly the v. He would refer to them as a string of terrible terms which he considered normal. There were instances where interviewers reported him as conducting inappropriate acts during the interviewing process. Dov was just recently let go after running American Apparel for over a decade. This business was also known for their scandalous advertisements which would get peoples attention, but mainly in a bad way.Some of the ads suffered bans over seas due to the explicit content. They soon became known for their "Over the Top sexual imagery". In 2015 the company had to put a stop to the raunchy ads in order to please the public eye. The company had a surge of purchases back in 2013, but people soon lost sight of the company and there sales rapidly dropped in 2014-2015. The products that they offered can be found at places like forever 21 and H&M for much cheaper prices. A lot of their products offered were too basic to be sold at the prices that they were placed at. Even though they had a few signature pieces like the disco pants, it wasn’t enough to keep people interested and engaged to keep purchasing from them. In 2105 their net losses totaled up to about $48 Million which is a lot for a once successful clothing
