For example, according to Klemens, work ethic is also important to society and economy. During the period of post-WWII, capitalism stimulated the development of economy in the U.S. Due to the “fast-growing economy”, Americans were so proud of their powerful country and “hard-working” figures. Since this period, work ethic has been the most “powerful and valued American social trait”. However, one possessing a good work ethic is not enough, because one also needs to work wisely. In brief summary, in order to be a good worker, it does not matter how challenging a job is or how much time it takes to complete, but whether work entails diligence and wisdom.

I think this relates to the definition core values. Core values are the values that are central to a group, those around which a group builds a common identity. I think this definition relates to this fact because it shows how Lumez’s family, Victor’s family, and Perla’s family all had to work very hard to get paid and that is there value and what they believed in to make them money. Another interesting fact that I learned throughout the movie is that mosquitos only live one day.
How then do we find the value of work in our society? One-way, the way that is most prominent in the working world today is salaries are higher where more money is made. That is, people will make more money at Warner Brothers than at a Dairy Queen simply because of the contrast in revenue between the two firms. To say a person flipping burgers should make the same or even similar amount of money, as a corporate officer of a large firm would be incorrect according to our society’s standards. When it all comes down to it, demand or labor force is where the money is.
For example, I value my life a lot because I know I’ll become someone important in this world who will change the community and make it a better place doing good in life does give value to life because you are helping others in need. People who do bad in life like killing someone else their life are less valuable because they have taken away someone else’s life. In addition, I have a strong relationship with my family who they encourage me to become someone superior so I can have a better life than them so I don't have a rough life and work in the fields. Having strong family ties will get you anywhere in life because they are always supporting you.
In “How To Do What You Love”, Graham discusses whether a job is worth attending to every day, then he continues on about the different influences that may lead a person to settle for a job that provides a decent income. He also encourages the reader to think about what they love and if they can do what they love while earning money for doing so. Graham uses many specific examples to help illustrate an encouraging and supportive tone. Money is told to be important to those who thrive for the financial stability. For the first example, Graham starts to discuss the possibilities of how money can be dangerous to a person.

Paul Fleischman’s poem, “Cicadas”, is a lyric poem because it has a specific setting, identifiable characters and a plot. The characters are cicadas in mid-August emerging from living underground. The plot of the poem is the life of a cicada. Fleischman’s poem is a free verse poem because it does not follow any specific predetermined rules. The word choice and pattern is meaningful; however, the format of the lines and syllables is completely up to Fleischman.

The Goal of Life In order to judge the importance of these values in enriching our lives, we must first define what makes a life enriched. Mustapha Mond, a Controller in Brave New World, would argue that happiness is the most important aspect of life and that the best life has the greatest amount of happiness. This is similar to the philosopher Epicurus’ belief that man should maximize pleasure and minimize pain in order to live a ‘blessed life’; happiness being used interchangeably with pleasure in this text (360).
