Analyzing Tuckman's Model Of Group Development

Unit 5 Journal For this week, I read about Tuckman’s model of group development. The Tuckman's model talks about how teams have five stages of development, and these stages or phases are: forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning phases (Bauer and Erdogan, 2010, page 191). In order to form a successful team, the group has to go through these stages. The manager or the team leader has to understand these phase and lead the group to work more effectively. The forming stage refers when the team meets the first time and identifies its limits with their new colleagues. The storming stage refers when the team has some information about the team and become more argumentative when trying to make a point. Norming stage is when the group establishes the ground rules and start working effectively. Performing stage refers to the phase when the group performs effectively and achieves the project’s goals and objectives. Finally, the adjourning stage is when the team dissolute and they separate. At this stage, some members feel sad because they will depart from the colleagues that they felt personal attachments. …show more content…
