Imagine if that little rat that’s invading your home and being a huge inconvenience, can actually be the cure to some of the most fatal diseases in the world. With Animal research we would be able to contribute even more then we already have with things such as cures, medical breakthroughs, and medicines. When people first hear about animal research they immediately begin to criticize, and scrutinize the companies and people that authorize these tests but fail to realize what the outcome is of this research really can reveal. According to Procon.org it states that, “If vaccines were not tested on animals, millions of animals would have died from rabies, distemper, feline leukemia, infectious hepatitis virus, tetanus, anthrax, and canine parvo virus.” Animal research is crucial because it allows scientists to learn more about human biology and health, as well as being able to develop new medicines. Animal experimentation has done nothing but help survival rates go up, and benefit our progression in helping to find new cures, and medical treatments. Many people constantly urge companies to use alternatives to animal research however; these alternatives are nowhere …show more content…
Many medical breakthroughs involving animal research may still have been made without the use of animals, because there is no evidence to prove that animal research was the key component to finding these breakthroughs. Furthermore, in the article Animal Testing is Unnecessary it states, “the reason that animals have been test subjects for so long is that scientists believed their genetic makeup to be similar enough to humans. However. This is true” (Delzer 29). One of the biggest reasons that scientists test on animals is because they believed they were similar, as well as being just as complex as human biology but, that turned out to be
