The recent article on Animal Testing in the US and throughout the world appalled me because although I was aware of animal testing, it felt even more relevant to me now because of the age that I am, and the interest/fascination that we, as teenagers have with makeup. I therefore chose to write a persuasive speech to be delivered to my Year 11 English teacher, Ms Gallagher, and my peers at MLC, as I felt that raising awareness of this topic could lead to prevention. Knowledge is the key to making a change. My ultimate aim is to expose the harsh realities of animal testing and inform the audience so they can make a better choice in their future purchases of cosmetic products. I thoughtfully structured my speech with the aim of having the greatest impact.
Animals are used for a vast number of different products, continuously poked with needles, cut open, having food and water withheld from them, poisoned, left in a small, cold metal cage. Animals that are used for animal testing often suffer an immense amount, and typically end up dying at the end of the experiment. If they do not die, they may be killed or used for another experiment. In most cases animals are being caused harm for only a slight chance of the product really working for humans, humans and animals have a different reaction to most products. Industries always have to be ahead of each other, competing, and coming up with new materials.
Introduction Paragraph: Some think that animal testing is the right thing to do, but others think that it is a harsh and cruel thing to do to living things. The work you have done has promoted the idea that it is perfectly ok to test your cosmetic products on creatures that have no say in the matter. Should you be allowed to torture these animals? What gives you the right to hurt them when they are innocent creatures that feel pain and suffer terribly? It's clear to the general public that overall animal testing should not be done.

This should be considered a violent crime, which is when the victim of the crime is either threatened or harmed by violence. However, animal abuse isn’t something that’s normally taken seriously in the courthouses, since America’s laws actually state that animals are considered property, instead of living creatures. This means that any abuse towards them is considered an infraction or low-leveled misdemeanor, punishable only by a small probation and a fine. In fact, a woman who had starved her dog, put him in a trash bag, then left him to die in a garbage disposal, only had a fine of $2,000 and a 180 day trial period. This is an outrageously low repercussion, and it won’t stop people from harming animals.
Animals that are made protected because of this are still tortured in labs, and there is no way to make sure that they aren't(Dosomething.org). We can’t say that animals are now protected when we don’t enforce the law strongly enough. It is not yet made that labs have to “report non-AWA protected animals”
The ties between humans and animals has been highly significant. Humans have relied on animals for almost everything. We have used them for all types of food, a huge industry in clothing, and house pets. Though research has made it possible for scientists to use animals for testing, teaching in schools, labs, and medicine. Even despite the cost, inefficiency and harm to the animal being tested on.
The Great George Bernard Shaw once stated, “ The worst sin towards our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them; that is the essence of inhumanity.” Multiple questions arise from this. Are we being indifferent? Are we being stone-hearted? Or are we being apathetic?
Lauren Davis Mr. Epley College English 2B 18 December 2014 Animal Testing – Helping or Hindering the Human Race? Animal testing for scientific and medical purposes in the United States of America is a really tough topic to choose a side on, because on one hand you are sacrificing the lives of millions of animals, but on the other hand there is a possible benefit for the human race and the possibility of saving millions of human lives. But, we have come so far with technology in the past few hundred years, I believe we no longer need animal testing in most cases, and if it is deemed to be necessary it should be closely monitored by the Humane Society and have to follow a certain set of rules to help the animals avoid pain. The foremost
ANIMAL TESTING IN LABORATORY SHOULD BE BANNED MIAO Jingwen (Betty) St. No.: 15250210 GCPS 1005, Section 00014 15/03/2017 Instructor: Dr. Michelle Huang Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience that animal testing in laboratory should be banned. Introduction (attention getter)
Hello and good morning everyone. Who are an animal lover? Who ever heard about animal testing before? So, today I want to talk about animal testing. Animal testing is the use of non-human animals in experiment that affect the behaviour or biological system under study.
I’m here today to talk about a controversial issue that has been around for a period of time, animal testing. Animal testing using animals in experiments with different chemical substances in everything from medical to cosmetic to determine their safety as well as effectiveness . It’s a problem that has existed since the 3rd and 4th centuries BCE with its merciless methods and painful ways of abusing animals for human demands, but now it’s time for it to stop. Our technology has developed significantly since; therefore, such medieval methods of torturing animals are no longer necessary. Researches have shown that each year, over 100 million animals are tortured and killed in American laboratories alone, including dogs, cats and more; this shows how far out of hand animal testing have gotten.
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated”. Do you know who says this quote? It came from a famous person from India, Mahatma Gandhi. Nowadays, many animals are abused and injured. The worst thing is when they become experimental material for chemical products experiments.
(www.animal-testing.procon.org, 4 of 7). In addition, there are many products that were tested on animals to see if it works well on humans too but they do not have the same reaction. For example, “Amrinone used of this drug for treating heart failure led to 20% of patients despite a comprehensive program of animal studies in mice, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, dogs and rhesus monkey, some of these humans patients died” (www.choosecrueltyfree.org, 4 of
Animals are being abused everyday and they are not taken into consideration when you see them being abused. They are suffering and they are being abused everyday and you all need to stop it. Animal cruelty is not something that just goes away the person doing it will keep doing it until someone stops them. Everyone needs to stop animal abuse and if everyone starts to make a difference others will to. Animals need help with this and everyone needs to help them.
