Lawrence Williamson Jr. is Director at the Frank W. Hale Jr. Black Cultural Center here at The Ohio State University. The Frank W. Hale Jr. Center develops and maintains supportive programs and activities for the development and advancement of all students and particularly African American students. As director he directs beneficial events, organizes teamwork opportunities, leads meetings on growing and building skills for the work force and everyday life, and oversees the student employment for day-to-day activities. He is the man that handles all the net-working and funding. He also makes the final decisions for the center and with the student events that take place.
Leader is a terminology that is often misuse or misinterpreted, especially in the business world. Often, managers and CEO believe they possess great leadership skills based solely on a few achievements and self-justification. Sometimes they develop a mythical misconception relatives to if their organization is financially prolific, they assume that it is because of their leadership skills, when in reality it may uncorrelated or is a contributing factor slowing the development of this particular organization. Yet, number of companies and employees continue to suffer from the poor leadership styles of this so-called great managers, meanwhile leadership consists of an array of attributes that one must possess to lead, with the ability to innovate, empower others, with an open-mind and much more.
Leaders are needed for the corporate world to expand, especially since most companies are interested in expanding globally. However, this viewpoint tends to define leadership as a status, and often plays into the romance of leadership, which places all responsibility for success or failure on the leader of a project or team. This ideology erases followership and its importance in achieving a team’s goal. A team must be cohesive and be able to communicate with each other.

Leadership has been defined in a variety of ways, there are multiple authors and theorists who have tried to define and understand leadership, all leading to varying theories and conclusions, but one thing that is universally understood is the importance of effective leadership and how someone with good leadership skills can impact so many people around them. (Kakabadse and Kakabadse, 1999; Yukl, 2002; Northouse,2013) The main components that have been identified to play a role in leadership are relations between leader and subordinates, interaction form between leader and followers, the influence that the leader has, the way in which the leader behaves and finally a leader’s traits. (Yukl, 2002) These elements that make up a leader, are then used as building blocks to identify the way in which each specific leader deals with its followers.
In developing this paper on leadership, I examined what was most important to me as a leader. As I reflected on my leadership philosophy, I thought about my experiences and the principals that I have learned through my own self-discovery and the observation of other leaders that I have had throughout my life. My leadership philosophy paper will focus on what leadership is to me, core values, and knowledge of others. In thinking about my definition of leadership, I thought of what was most important to me in and as a leader.

Categorization is done into three groups: practical leaders, unity leaders and uncaring leaders. The results concluded that every leader is relatively affective but it can be expected that practical and unity leaders could do even better than uncaring leaders.
Individual Reflective Paper Introduction Leadership, a controversial concept, has been studied for centuries. Scholars who study leadership have argued with the insight of leadership for many decades and finally promote a wide range of understandings of it. This course “values and leadership” introduces the basic principles and concepts about leadership, and provides us with some conceptual knowledge and practical approaches to be an outstanding leaders. I chose to take this course because I am interested in the topic about leadership.

Moreover, Abraham Zaleznik (1977) discussed the parallel between leaders and managers and mentioned that they both make a valuable contribution to an organization; although, each one’s contribution is different (Lunenburg, 2011).
