I have achieved my high GPA through taking hard classes and also have had to take several classes as an independent study to fit them into my schedule. These classes include Accounting, Physics, Entrepreneurship, College Marketing, and College Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Excel. When I
To achieve this goal, I want to take many of Riverwood’s AP classes, so I can receive extra credit for my college transcript. Some of my personal goals include playing sports at a high level. I have always wanted
Everyone may be talking about how hard the AP exam is, and how much you have to prepare for it, but it wasn't that difficult. As long as you don't stress out about the little things, you will do fine in AP
Instead of solely having AP courses teaching core social capital skills, all courses taught in educational institutions should be constructed to challenge students and dissipate knowledge on how to succeed. Failing an AP course will not only tremendously lower your GPA, but shows how students who lack certain social capital skills that are typically taught at home such as time management, will struggle to adjust to the dominant institution
Throughout middle school and my first 2 years in high school, I’ve gotten mainly As in my classes with an occasional B here and there. So in my junior year of high school, when I heard that I can take more than 1 AP course, I immediately wanted to challenge myself. I registered for 4 AP courses along with orchestra, and spanish on top of my extracurriculars. “Are you trying to kill yourself?” is what all my friends asked when I told them about my plan.
AP English and Dual Enrollment Government have prepared me the most for college. My AP English teacher opened my eyes to different types of literature and sources that is constantly referenced in my first college classes at Tidewater Community College. for example, Karl Marx is quoted a lot in the many theories of sociology. My Dual Enrollment Government course prepared me for this ample amount of reading in college. My professor would provide my class with multiple reading assignments to push our reading limits.
I would have liked to know that there is less overlap between honors and AP chemistry than I had anticipated. Be aware that there is overlap—all of the first unit, for example. However, honors chemistry is not necessary to succeed. I understand that Honors Chemistry has a lot of homework, but AP Chemistry has much more. This class progresses much more quickly than honors, but you will be okay if you are aware of that before enrolling.
Some may take the easy way out, but others challenge themselves and take on what the world throws at them. Even though they may not achieve the results they would like, they keep pushing themselves and don’t give up. Not everything in life comes easily, so some sacrifices have to be made for the long run. Of course there will be those whose only goal is to just pass, nothing less, nothing more, but there will also be those who go above and beyond. We, as AP students, know that for a successful career, college is the first step and colleges look for students who challenge themselves in a tough course rather than getting a 100 in a regular course.
I am not very interested in the medical field as it is associated with psychology and based on my goals I don’t believe that it’s something that I would take joy in
I am interested in taking pre-AP World History because I want to be ready for AP courses. Taking both pre-AP and AP classes will help me get into the college of my choice. I enjoy learning about the past, including the Holocaust and Great Depression, so that I know how good my life is now. I also enjoy being in harder classes because I like having to work hard to keep an “A” in my classes. I want to be able to learn from mistakes, and in easier classes, I don’t make as many.
AP classes can be very beneficial to students. These courses reduce the amount of money and time spent in college. They also are more beneficial than college intro classes. Lastly, these classes help prepare you for the workload of college. AP courses reduce the time you have to spend in college.
AP classes are said to be very hard, of course very challenging, and that they suck the living life out of you. However, regardless of that, I still choose it, because I believe that the more of writing skills you have, the better. I can’t have enough of English skills, because there is always something I can improve on. With all the different literary techniques, I can write better essays.
The AP Program is a great fit for me because I have all the traits/ skills to be successful in this program. As I enjoy learning new things, the AP Program will help me academically fulfill my appetite for learning. I 'm a hard worker, very curious & love challenges. As I 'm intrigued & fascinated by our Universe, my dream is to work for NASA/ CSA & to achieve that I would like to get admission in Caltech. I firmly believe that the AP program will enable me to achieve my goals & dreams.
The teachers do not help the students as much and prefers to have group work and have students help one another. In an advanced class the expectations are much higher. With the same expectations as the general class the AP class also expects the students to understand the material for next class and to be capable of doing most things in the class individually. In an Advanced Placement course the students must take a test at the end of the course, if the student receives at least a three out of five the student will receive a college credit. The AP class is also weighted heavier than a general course and will help with class
There was no doubt in my mind that I tried my hardest in the classes; I just did not have as much faith in myself when it came to the test day. In AP U.S. History, I did my homework religiously every weekend on Sunday afternoons by delving into each chapter as much as possible and enjoying what I was reading. For AP Language and Composition by creating a word wall in my room in order to improve my vocabulary. All the weekends spent doing homework and more for these classes paid off in a way I never would have imagined. I finally was able to believe my hard work towards achieving a goal could actually be rewarded.
