Dear future AP chem student. I am here to provide you with all the information about this course and to be entirely honest with you so that you may make the best decision about enrolling in it. I understand that choosing a class can be quite stressful and nerve-wracking. Do not enter this class with the expectation that it will be easy. This class may be your first AP course, as it was mine, so instead of starting with an easy AP course like statistics, you will be starting from scratch, which turns out to be a lot easier. I would have liked to know that there is less overlap between honors and AP chemistry than I had anticipated. Be aware that there is overlap—all of the first unit, for example. However, honors chemistry is not necessary to succeed. I understand that Honors Chemistry has a lot of homework, but AP Chemistry has much more. This class progresses much more quickly than honors, but you will be okay if you are aware of that before enrolling. Since I truly enjoyed honors chemistry, I took AP Chemistry. If you're in a similar situation, I highly recommend this subject because it's easier to gain a solid grasp now rather than in college, putting you ahead of your peers. …show more content…

I've always found that chemistry takes a lot of work, but when the extra effort is put in, the results are eventually worthwhile. Because they are more concept-based, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, and intermolecular forces were the areas that I found the simplest to understand. I found Kinects the most challenging since I was never able to grasp the fundamentals, the math, or the concepts associated with this course. It is crucial to have a firm grasp of kinetics, equilibrium, acids, and bases because they are significant topics covered on the AP Chemistry exam.
