Who Isn’t Treated Fairly At Hillside According to NEA.org, on average teachers spend fifty hours a week working on instructional duties and a average of twelve hours on non compensated school related activities, such as grading. Teachers have a lot of work and responsibility that they put into their jobs. They have to make up lessons, teach most of the day, and then go home and grade papers. You would think that teachers would be treated the most fair at Hillside because they have the most important job, teaching the students, but many people think that teachers are considered less than, “non professionals”. However, I think teachers at Hillside, are not treated fairly because of how much they are paid, how long they work, and how students and parents treat teachers. It is explained by the Ontario Canada Secondary School Federation. They state that, “the “Bullying in the Workplace Survey” found that 36% of Ontario secondary teachers reported being bullied by students. That’s over one in three teachers who feel that their students have engaged in, “persistent or repeated verbal abuse, threats, insults or humiliation”.This research explains that over one in three teachers has been bullied and disrespected by students.It’s explained by National Association of Public Schools that, “For the past 20 years, each of us has encountered a relentless increase in educators’ frustrations in dealing with difficult parents.” Additionally, “parents are habitually rude or demanding or disrespectful, engaging in personal attacks on teachers and administrators, demeaning and threatening them.” Parents are constantly rude to the teachers who are giving their children education.
