Abortion is one of the biggest issues in our society today. Abortion is where the pregnant woman terminates her pregnancy. Some say that it is the woman’s body and she should have the choice whether to keep the baby or not. Whereas others say that abortion should definitely not be allowed and is a form of murder. I thought that abortion was a good issue to cover as I have seen a lot about it on the news and looked at how people protest for and against abortion. I have also looked at the affect that abortion has on society. Abortion was supposed to empower women and make them feel like they have the choice to have a baby or not. Should abortion only be allowed if it is risking the woman’s life?

There are more people against abortion than for it. People say that “abortion is murder and should not be legal” not everyone agrees that abortion is murder and say “abortion should not be considered murder as the foetus is not self – sustaining and requires the mother’s body and physical resources to survive.” People who are against abortion also say “if the pregnancy is at fault of the mother then she should have to deal with the consequences of being pregnant” if abortion is accepted by the society then it will be used as a regular form of birth control. The most popular argument from people who do not agree with abortion is that all babies have a great potential and you never know who or what your baby could turn out to be. From both sides of the argument there was an abortion debate to help find out what people’s views on abortion actually were two of the most common ones against abortion were. “There are so many families who aren’t able to have children looking to adopt there Is no such thing as an unwanted child.” “In the instance of rape proper medical care can ensure that a woman will not get pregnant. Abortion punishes the unborn child who committed no crime.” Two of the most common ones from people who agree with abortion were “Abortion is a safe medical procedure, 88% of women who have had an abortion done so in their first trimester.
