Argument Analysis: Can Leadership Be Taught?

Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other.-John F. Kennedy

Can leadership be taught?? This topic has been studied , debated and researched for a longtime and does not lead to one consistent answer. It is debatable and every person will have his/her opinion as to whether leadership can be taught or not.
John F kennedy couldn’t be more correct in making a statement that leadership and learning are indispensable, and, I personally believe that leadership can be taught like any other skills like swimming, science, driving, playing an instrument, but the basic traits or prerequisites to leadership should be inherently present in the person. If a person holds these traits then he or she can be taught leadership skills by nurturing his character by building his communication skills, team building skills , organizational skillsetc. Of what I have listed above the the basic traits are something that cannot be taught but the latter skills can be taught and the reason I believe that leadership can be taught if the basic traits exist.
Also sometimes what we think about leadership affects how we perceive the leaders around us. For example, if we expect a leader to be a protagonist, we are likely to see someone who takes the responsibility of the task at hand as a good leader and someone who asks everybody’s views and lets the group make decisions as weak. These are normal people but have been groomed and trained to lead and manage large projects. I have observed that all of these managers and leaders share the common traits of compassion, honesty and integrity, they take the responsibility for the success nad failure of the project , these are self motivated people who have been prepared during the course of their career to lead organization to achieve their goals and makes my opinion stronger that the leaders can be taught.
A perfect example of leader who failed to lead even though his lineage included leaders is that of Rahul Gandhi.he was groomed from an early age to lead one of the biggest political party in India , but in recent elections his party failed , the reasons being lack of basic traits of compassion, passion, etc.
Another example of a common man who became a great leader in the wrong sense of the word( but still was a great leader) is that of Adolf Hitler. He was a common army man, who learnt the leadership skills from his superiors and the mistakes that they made, had basic traits of self motivation, go getter and super determined. He taught himself leadership skills by observation and slowly and steadily and became a leader whom people feared to
