Yes abortion is a heavy topic to discuss, many emotions and opinions affect people in the discussion of this topic. Women for many years have been shamed for deciding to have an abortion. Abortions around the world have always made women feel ashamed for killing an unborn baby. People until this day, still do not try to understand the difficult and emotional choices that these women would have to make. Abortions are not cheap, they are around three hundred to a thousand dollars, that is a large amount of money for many people. The National Women's Law Center states,“When a woman is living paycheck to paycheck, denying coverage for an abortion can push her deeper into poverty”(cite).Abortions are not cheap, they can cost anywhere from three hundred to a thousand dollars. Thus making these women having to choose between the abortion or the daily needs. Another study cited by the Women's Law Center confirmed this by finding that,”a woman who is unable to get an abortion is more likely to be living in poverty and be unemployed one year later than a woman who received the abortion care she needed”(cite). For too long, politicians have interfered in women’s health decisions by banning health coverage that includes coverage for abortion care. Studies show that when political interference restricts Medicaid coverage of abortions, it forces one in four lower-income women seeking an abortion to carry an unwanted pregnancy to term (nwlc.org). Some 68,000 women die of unsafe abortion annually, making it one of the leading causes of maternal mortality (13%). Of the women who survive unsafe abortion, 5 million will suffer long-term health complications(cite). Why risk a woman's life when you can prevent that from happening.
