As the doctor slowly pushes the colored fluid into your body, you start to regret your choice of taking the life away from an innocent child. Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy commonly performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. While some believe that a fetus is not a person until after it is born, research proves that life begins at conception. Abortion should be illegal across the country because it is simply murder, unsafe, and contradicts common Christian beliefs.
Abortion should be illegal because it is the murder of an innocent baby. Murder is defined as “the unlawful premeditated killing of one human being by another.” This describes abortion as the same as murder. In addition, late term abortion inflicts more pain for the fetus than most people believe. According to Jean Garton, “Late term abortion by the use of D & X inflicts pain and inhumane death on fetuses capable of surviving out of the womb” (Gale). If it causes pain to anyone, it mostly affects the infant, which is greatly unlawful. Abortion should be a crime because it takes away the rights of a human by killing it without consideration. “In 2000- 2014, a minimum of 149 Salvadoran women faced related murder and homicide charges” (Gale). Therefore, abortion is murder and should be illegal. All people have rights to life and to a future. If life begins at conception, that means the person or fetus has rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Taking away someone's rights is illegal -- doing so by killing is murder.
