I have personally created works of art for my family members and seeing their reactions to my piece have given me a new found confidence. Having them show up to my plays and knowing that what I was doing was important made me feel self worth. I remember creating abstract art in elementary school and my mom was so proud of my work that she hung it up for everyone to see. It made me start thinking of professions that I would like to obtain and branched my love of education. I thank the arts for the person I have become and would love to see it’s continuation in education for future
7. What inspired you to become an artist in the beginning, and how has your journey progressed since then? Now having found some mainstream success have any of your goals changed? 8. I’m not sure what inspired me in the beginning.
I love art and want to diversify part of my interest. It was not only about independence or money but fulfillment. I decide to complete my education becoming a doctor in dentistry, on this field I can help people and use my art skills, because believed or not art is applied in dentistry and almost every field. A month after my 23rd birthday I finished dental school. I felt completed I could help others and use my art skills.
By successfully gaining a bachelors degree in sculpture I will be able to further my studies to become an art therapist, where I can help people like myself, or anyone who has an ailment find peace and focus through the expression of how they feel. Furthermore, I will be able to show those who feel stuck or handicapped a way to be free of negative self image but putting it on paper and turning something dark into a beacon of beauty and self appreciation. Additionally, I could help spread awareness for both mental and physical ailments through my work, and the work of those I teach, to further the message that while some may only percieve the illness of an individual there is always more to someone than just that; they are a mother, a daughter,
With practice and patience, I actually started to enjoy drawing. I took an art class as my elective and I thought that this would be my future. I thought I finally found myself, but problems started to show. From family problems to losing friends. Losing friends took a deep toll on my life because I’ve never experienced this feeling before.
Although Affirmative Action can help to combat the negative effects of racism within our society, it cannot nullify white supremacist thinking, which has a profound impact on individual development and beliefs. White supremacy is the belief that members of the white race are superior to members of other races, and should dominate non-white people socially, economically, and politically. The white supremacist ideology is omnipresent in American society and dominates media, politics, and even education. Movies and television are dominated by white actors while little representation is granted to people of color. White beauty standards are seen by all, and very few of the historical figures taught in school are anything other than white.
Coming to terms with learning how to follow a crowd and stand out at the same time took a lot of trial and error, especially throughout my work. Yet, because of the introductory courses I took, I knew how to showcase my skills in a uniform aspect while still having my art stand out. Because of the useful lesson I learned from not only my art classes, but the extracurricular activities I participated in I was able to reach a virtuous point for me to not be apprehended and have the ability to move
I am acutely aware of the how lucky I am to be able to virtually choose any profession and eternally grateful to the amount of supportive teachers and adults I’ve met that pick up where my parents’ knowledge falters. They have filled my environment with a constant emphasis on education and vivid art. Most of the teachers I’ve met during my academic career have been avid supporters of challenging myself by encouraging me to take rigorous courses, rooting for me and offering any type of help they can so that I can succeed. Art has been the underlying motivator throughout my life, serving to stimulate my mind differently from academic rigor and as an outlet of self expression in musical and visual forms. The works of Francisco Goya ranging to the entirety of Dada period art, a music taste spanning over a multitude of genres, clothing inspiration from i-D Magazine and thrifted DIYs.
Your posting for an Art & Culture Coordinator position with the Town of Canmore caught my attention. I have always wanted to pursue a career in the arts and I love being a member of our community. Combining people and arts is a dream job for me and I am confident my enthusiasm and experience will be a perfect fit. I work at the Rocky Mountain Outlook and I really enjoy my job in production and as the creative manager. Taking on a roll that allows me to become more involved in making our community even more amazing would be ideal, and I really love art.
Not only was I using the skills I learned in class, I saw some of the paintings that we had gone over in class and I was able to tell the person I was with what else you can see in the picture. I was able to experience more than just paintings, I saw contemporary art as well. This was “art” was bizarre to me, because there was a block of wood, and the title of it was “Wood.” After going in there I went home determined to become a ‘contemporary’ artist.
Going forward a liberal arts education will be key for me to attain my goals. Specifically a Hollins liberal arts education. I am interested in pursuing pre-law, creative writing, art, and equine studies. At a typical technical based studies program I would be unable to study and learn what I 'm passionate about. It has been said that if you choose a job you love you will never have to work another day, and I fully intend to live my life with zeal doing what I love and am truly passionate about, and a liberal arts education will help me achieve that.
A meaningful contribution I have made in my community is through my involvement with my church in the Faith Formation program. I take part in helping freshman and sophomores in high school prepare themselves for confirmation. All the high school students at the Church of St. Michael in Prior Lake meet every Wednesday night and talk about our faith and how we live it in our everyday lives. My role is to be a table leader and act as a role model and a help the confirmation candidates become more active in their faith lives. Not only do I help the candidates learn more about their faith lives, but it also helps me, as a leader, to dig deeper into my faith and learn how to live through God in new ways.
Education has the ability to alter anyone’s future in a positive way. Although some people do not care about an education, it has the ability to impact life positively. As a little girl, I struggled a lot due to the low level of education my parents had. They spent most of their time working and therefore, I had to learn how to do most things on my own. Due to my struggle as a child, I will continue my education because, otherwise, my future, family, and community will suffer.
Doubtlessly, primary education plants the seeds of learning in the minds of young people. I am a diligent and organised student hoping to join the Education Course. I have recognised the importance of education and the impact it has on the lives of young people through volunteering and work experience, as well as being a pupil and seeing different teaching methods myself. I feel the Primary Education course is ideal for me to expand not only my own knowledge, but also that ofyounger students. My A Level subjects have been highly beneficial to the Education course, particularly English, as it has enabled me to teach younger students and gain the confidence to speak in front of classes.
They think studying liberal arts is a future of unemployment and uncertainty. But, it is important to override these belief because of the large opportunity for art majors in the world. My experiences as a child, influences, and mentors have inspired me to study art history at Belmont and I want to share my experiences and knowledge of my process. What drives you to study art and pursue a career in this impressive field?
