When a person becomes ill to the point where no medical assistance will be of help, what happens next? Should this person continue to endure pain and suffering not only physically but mentally from their loved ones around them? It is selfish of us who are not suffering to wish that these people are kept alive just so that we don’t feel the guilt of eventually seeing them pass. It is equally as selfish to deny these people a way out and force them to undergo extensive medical treatments that may cause further pain and create financial problems towards their family. This is the large predicament in today’s society known as assisted suicide. We are living in a world where more and more is becoming possible. In the medical and technological field, developments are being brought forth rapidly which is ultimately resulting in the opportunity to save many more lives than ever before. Medicine is being used at our consent with the means to cure and treat those suffering from sicknesses that cause pain or lead to death. This can perhaps be seen as a both good and bad thing.
