Introduction The purpose of this Lab was to identify the density of the unidentified object and determine what substance the unidentified object given by the teacher was. The density calculated in the experiment will stay the same because the density of the unidentified object will stay constant. The Independent Variable of this experiment was the calculated density and the unidentified object given. The Dependant Variable for this experiment was the density.
Title: Introduction: A-mountain lies in Southern Arizona, a region known as a desert. There are factors that contribute to the growth of certain plant life in certain areas. The north and south side of the mountain is expected to have contrasting difference due to the amount of sunlight each side receives. Exposure to sunlight affects the plants growth and overall life.
1.) The life of slaves in the 1700 could be easy, or hard, depending on their “master.” Some slaves worked on farms and performed extremely hard feats of work, but others would do house work for their master that was not as hard but more time consuming. Now these slaves were like servants, but they are considered property, unlike a servant that is a free person. Since slaves were considered property their master could do anything they to them, like branding them just for not doing as told.
In the first stanza of the poem, Alvarez decribes our heroine. She has just completed her task, her giant push in what she believes is the right direction. She is still young and she too is changing, "She sees her reflection, a face still dramatic,/pale and young in that afterward light." (Alvarez pg 542) Both our speaker and protagonist are unsure what she 'll do next, but we can tell she is lonely with the imagery used "dark fields rolling by," "night sky grain with stars" (lines 6-7) instead of bright stars, they are dull.
Discussion Week one- During the first week of this experiment we used a Spectronic 20 to measure the light absorbance and the percent of light transmitted. A Spectronic 20 is a machine that measures the amount of light that passes through the solution (Lewiston, 2014). For week one the goal of the experiment was to find the analytical for KMnO4.
Stargazing 101: Gemini, the Twins It’s exciting to see many of these stories start to intertwine! The Gemini brothers, as I mention later on, have been involved in many adventures throughout Greek mythology. They rescued their sister, Helen of Troy, the first time she was abducted (a separate abduction from the Trojan War.) I’m also really enjoying these cover images by Sidney Hall.
Today NASA's Cassini spacecraft will zoom close to Saturn's moon Enceladus in an attempt to fly through a plume of icy spray thrown up from the alien world's surface. This flyby will shed light on new research published this week suggesting that Enceladus, sixth largest of many moons that orbit the famous ringed planet, has a core that is similar to primitive meteorites found on Earth. ANDROMEDA - THE CHAINED MAIDEN Genitive: Andromedae Andromeda is one of the Greek constellations. It was named after Andromeda, the daughter of Cassiopeia and Cepheus in Greek mythology, who was chained and left for the sea monster Cetus to eat, and then saved by Perseus. Andromeda was sacrified to Cetus to appease the gods and stop the monster from ravaging her land. Cetus was sent by the god Poseidon after Cassiopeia had boasted that she was more beautiful than the nymphs.
Whenever I look up at the night sky, I can see the stars that are just visible enough for me to see as a small dot. I look up at the stars wondering if they are galaxies, stars, or even planets. Whatever those stars may be I see them as opportunities, opportunities for us to see and explore. However, they aren’t the only stars that can be seen as opportunities. The stars that are drawn on paper can also be seen as opportunities.
The purpose of the lab was to find which combination of motor and propeller should be used to power a car. In order to do so, we needed to build a force gauge that could accurately measure force. To be able to measure force, we needed to understand what force is. Force is simply explained as an interaction that, when unopposed, will change the motion of an object. During the lab we wanted to measure force for a simple reason;it was our job.
October sky takes place in a small town called Coalwood in the year 1957. The mines are a huge part of Coalwood economy. John Hickham loves his job as the mine’s superintendent and hopes his own sons will join the business too. Later in the movie his son Jim receives a football scholarship and leaves Homer to fulfill His father’s dream, although homer doesn’t want to fulfill it. The news of Sputnik, Soviet Union’s satellite spreads within Coalwood with different reactions.
October Sky - Success A. October sky is a movie instructed by Joe Johnston in 1999 and is based on the autobiography Rocket boys by Homer Hickam. The movie starts in 1957, where the Soviet Union just successfully launched the space rocket Sputnik. The movie is about Homer Hickam, who lived in Coalwood, West Virginia. The town Coalwood’s mainly purpose was mining coal and Homer’s dad, John Hickam’s mining company, owned everything in the town.
Space Research Project Who is Neil Armstrong and why was he chosen to do what he is most famous for? Neil Armstrong was the most famous astronaut as he was the first person to walk on the moon back on July 26, 1969. Neil Armstrong was born on August 5, 1930.
One of the most well known astronomers of all time is Nicolaus Copernicus. He was known to think outside of the box and dreamt of bigger things in life. Copernicus did not see the world and its surroundings like everyone else did. Having such a brilliant mind helped him discover an important theory. Many scientists and astronomers would never see our solar system the same.
Jaspreet Singh Professor Paratore Biology 1 November 1, 2014 Spectrophotometry Identifying Solutes and Determining Their Concentration Statement of the Exercise or of the Problem The purpose of the lab experiment was to attain the following objectives: • Learning to Operate the Spectrophotometer • Construct absorption spectra for cobalt chloride and chlorophyll. Hypothesis If greater and higher concentrations of cobalt chloride are added to each solution then greater amounts of light would be absorbed by each solution. Thus a liner relationship will result in which the absorbance of a substance would be proportional to its concentration, which will be depicted, in a linear graph.
