Dollar Tree continues to distinguish itself in the discount retail industry by remaining a true dollar store and utilizing Family Dollar to sell other products while at the same time being low cost. In order for Dollar Tree to remain competitive they need to address the issue that some of their products may not be safe for consumers. Dollar tree needs to raise their standards and have the best interest of the consumer in mind. People are smart shoppers because they are careful in how they spend their money. There are times when Dollar Tree bargains are not a bargain.
Dollar Tree was forced to settle with OSHA Occupational Safety and Health Administration for 825,000 for “safety hazards such as blocked emergency exits, obstructed access to exit routes and electrical equipment, and improper material storage” (Gonzalez, 2015, para.1). Additional had to put an auditing procedure in place. (Gonzalez, 2015). The mixed signal on Wall Street about the stock, many contests if the acquisition with Family Dollar and the competitive landscape provides growth moving forward.

It is quite evident that great customer services at Zappos increases costs such as free same day shipping, extensive employee training, and other expenses. In order to offset these costs, the company can reduce costs of operation in other areas such as reducing the cost of two-way shipping. The company has to make sure that it provides a drop shipping. A drop shipping means that after a customer has requested for a pair of shoes online, the company would then request the customer to go and pick the shoes at the closest warehouse of the company. This method reduces the after services costs (Abrams, 2012).
Interviews with electronic specialists Best Buy To gain the knowledge I needed for this research I interviewed John an employee at our local Best buy store. John has worked for Best Buy for a year and is very familiar with most all tablets. Taking a list with me on the tablets I had researched on line, (shown in the table on page 3) I asked John to show me all 3 on the list. My first question was, do they use tablets at their store? He responded “always, we mostly use them for price matching products to give our costumers the lowest prices available and to also check the stock in the store.”
"It was a Saturday afternoon. Best Buy was buzzing with the sound of over priced electronics and corporate capitalism. Ka-Ching. Ka-Ching. The stilted soundtrack of our setting rang out.
One suggestion Best Buy could look into is selling used, refurbished, and discontinued merchandise in its stores. Best Buy has excellent customer service and receives a good amount of returned goods to their store. By selling used merchandise will give them more saleable inventory and give the customers more options if they want to save money. An example of a company that sells used merchandise successfully in the consumer electronics market is GameStop who has sales of 9 billion dollars as of January of 2009. Another key aspect of having used inventory in stores is to extend the lifecycle of products in an industry that have shortening life cycles.

Chapter 1 – Internet Exercise 2 One corporation that I believe effectively uses both online and offline channels is Best Buy. This company constantly has television commercials promoting their various products and any potential deals for these products. However, they also utilize the internet in an effective way. Best Buy has this program where you can go online and purchase your item then pick it up at a store nearest to you. This eliminates not only the shipping cost for an online order but also the waiting time for your purchase to arrive in the mail.
1. ROWE appears to have been effective at Best Buy. It worked at Best Buy because the goal at Best Buy is to judge performance on output instead of hours. Besides that, Best Buy did not invent the post-geographic office. The official policy for this post-face-time, location-agnostic way of working is that people are free to work wherever they want, whenever they want, as long as they get their work done. And the company plans to take its clockless campaign to its stores--a high-stakes challenge that no company has tried before in a retail environment.
Introduction Best Buy is a large and popular electronic store where consumers can purchase the latest technology products. Best Buy also known to introduce the ROWE program-Results Only Work Environment that was instituted by two Human Resource employee after sharing their ideas and surveying other employees on the balance with work life and personal life. Although instituted by middle and lower management it was deliberately not made know to upper management and was kept secret of fear it would be cancelled, but it was later presented after it was experimented with some employees. Summary The ROWE program would therefore offer a more modernize way in how some corporate employees work.
