Self-Assessment
I will meet the criteria 1-4 by researching about my assign pathway, which is fatty acid synthesis. I used the assigned course textbook along with several scholarly articles to learn about what happened at each step of the synthesis. My presentation will be very relevant and appropriate for my biochemistry class because a large portion of my class was focused on metabolic pathways like glycolysis, krebs cycle, electron transport chain, gluconeogenesis etc. However, we did not go into too much detail on how some of these pathways actually work. This is because it was the part of this assignment to investigate the assigned pathway and present it a manner that would deliver the information in a scientific and precise way. I believe

However, we were only required to use two reliable scholarly sources. I was able to make a relevant connection of my metabolic pathway, which is fatty acid synthesis to multiple other pathways like TCA cycle and beta-oxidation. My assigned metabolic pathway was difficult to understand because it has five steps to it, and in each step, an important metabolic reaction is taking place. I believe my power point slides presentation on my metabolic pathway was clear and helpful in terms of understanding the complex metabolic pathways to my peers because after showing them a bigger picture of the complex mechanism, I broke it down into five steps to show what is happening in each step. I demonstrated this by explaining to my classmates on what fatty acid synthesis is and why it is important for complex cellular and metabolic function in the simplest way possible. Furthermore, after stating each step, I went into greater detail on what happens in each step of the pathways. I demonstrated this by stating the enzyme that are being reduced and oxidized in each step which can be seen in my uploaded video on live text. It was a challenge to condense the information of my pathways into a one-page summary, as a handout for my audience because there are so much cellular and metabolism activity happening in each step. After, finding so much information on my topic I was well prepared to present what I learned to my peers. However, due to extensive scientific vocabulary, I saw myself reading from the slides for proper pronunciation of the enzyme that are involved in my pathway. Overall, my analyzes and description for my pathway were very thorough and accurate because my presentation contains all the required criteria.
One aspect of my presentation that was especially successful was my explanation of the transportation process of Acetyl CoA from mitochondria to cytosol, and why it is so important.
