Eating at fast food chains may lead to many health problems, one of these problems is high blood pressure. Some may ask, what is high blood pressure? Blood pressure is the force of blood on the blood vessel walls, how hard the blood is pushing. High blood pressure means that the arteries are getting pushed more than they should be. Blood pressure can be measured in millimeters of mercury. One reason that your millimeters of mercury would be abnormal is the fact that most people in the United States are deficient in Magnesium. Most fast foods are processed, when these foods are processed the original nutrients that could have been found in the foods prior cannot be found after. Obesity is most likely the most commonly known health problem that is associated with fast food. One of the ingredients to obesity is the unhealthy ingredients. Most of the items that a customer can buy at a fast food restaurant include amounts of sugar, fats, and carbohydrates. They contain less of the things that our bodies need, ingredients such as minerals and vitamins. These large amounts of unhealthy ingredients lead to weight gain. According to Wake Forest University of Medicine, when eating trans fats such as partially hydrogenated vegetable oil can accelerate weight. It’s not just the unhealthy ingredients that lead to obesity, the large portions play a large factor in your weight. Even though the meal might seem larger a customer will most likely eat as much as they could, disregarding the fact that they might be full. For instance, one might have half a burger left which is all of the calories that the customer would need, but instead the customer might finish the burger. The customer would double their calorie intake and would consume extra unhealthy ingredients. Eating larger portions just makes it worse, as the customer is just consuming more and more of sugars, carbs, and fats. In fact, some of the current fast food chains are rolling out large portion deals where the let customers buy more food for less money. Hardee’s, Burger King and Wendy's all have kicked off new deals that include 1,000-calorie-plus sandwiches packed with 12 ounces of beef. That amount of meat in that meal is equivalent to the amount that adults are recommended to have in two days. In addition, Hardee's just introduced the Country Breakfast Burrito. This is a tortilla wrap filled with two egg omelettes, sausage, bacon, ham, cheddar cheese, hash browns and gravy. The stuffed meal contains 920 calories and 60 grams of fat.
