Design The word design in business terms must deal with business process to acquire human interaction. At Burgers’ Smokehouse acquiring customers is the key objective of the goal for their company to succeed. But, with all things comes charges, fixed and variable costs regarding the customer and the company’s meat production. “ A business design outlines the future needs (such as skills), enablers (technology), and customers (marketing, selling, and distributing of products” (Cerasale, 2004, p. 13). Acquiring Customers Burgers’ Smokehouse originally acquired customers through winning an award for the best tasting ham at the Missouri Fair. This award was presented by former President Harry Truman. This allowed for the introduction of Burgers’ meat products into grocery stores in Missouri. Later ‘down the road’ paper catalog was issued through the mail. The future, now the present, brought the internet which allowed Burgers’ to develop a company website to reach millions of potential customers and businesses. Now, customers can use either and will be charged by either the quantity of they buy of a product (snack sticks) or both the quantity and the poundage of the bulk products. The latter is mainly used for restaurants and retail, but customers can buy them in the fashion as well, and this is shipped through the mail-order room. Employees in the mail-order room mainly notice the names of people in the medical field (health and dental) purchasing in this way for Christmas for their employees. Prices could change at a minutes notice to provide for a better revenue stream vice the fixed and variable costs of everyday Burgers’ operational
