The purpose of this paper is to discuss the ethics in business today. Business ethics developed in the 1920’s and is still followed today. According to the book, Understanding Business Ethics, the business ethics today has seen a significant change from the discussions that were brought up centuries ago. In businesses today, there are many workplaces that follow the business ethics in the company’s policy and procedures and let the employees know to voice out the right and wrong, one of the companies that the author chose to explore was Starbucks. As an example, follows the business ethics and mentions on the website. As in other companies, Starbucks focuses on treating one another respectfully, and one of the important policies that the company follows is business ethics. Starbucks has written information on PDF that anyone can read that specifically indicates the business ethics that the company follows. This not only is beneficial for employees who would like to apply to the workplace, but for everyone else that is willing to learn more about Starbucks and to trust the company. The ethical decision making concentrates on the employees that work for the company and emphasizes to voice out their opinions for anything that they may find it wrong. Training employees of business ethics is probably an important factor today, since this can be easily being blinded in a workplace. Letting the employees know the importance of business ethics in workplace area will not only engage them to work harder knowing that they are being protected, but also to voice out what is right from wrong by unethical behaviors.According to Business ethics, there are several levels of critique for the study of ethics and morality in business. People who worked there were desperate of revenues and wanting to sell one room and take the percentage of what they sold in their paychecks. As indicated on the CNN report, because people wanting more money would equal to employees not trying hard to sell the rooms, but to trick people that they are eligible of the loan when they do not make enough from their wages and to miscalculate on purpose.Employees knew what others were doing, but kept quiet because they did not want to make any enemies in the workplace. Few employees were even cautious and manage to do everything on their personal laptops instead of company issued ones. People lied to clients and bosses in order to sell what they wanted. The company still stands although unethical practices still do exist in the same company. However, amongst the employees, there were three people caught in doing this unethical and unlawful action which had them fired and the employees were not able to work in any real estate companies in Japan. Many people including myself left the company because of this behavior of others, making others actually feel bad for not doing the same thing and follow the steps in order to make more profit and money in their pockets. In that case, it is not only the business that suffers, but also for the employees in the business and they will end up losing their jobs.As seen in the example above, the author
