Lindsey Pollak provides suggestions to ease the transition from student to career for the recent, or soon to be college graduate. The lucid writing style she uses in her book provides a sense of comfort to an inevitably stressful period in our lives. Pollak start’s off the chapter encouraging the reader to not worry about the things we have not done, or should have done. Upon beginning my first class at Walden University, it has been difficult to see myself getting through this 8-week course. Furthering my education has been something I have struggled to accomplish for the last 4 years. I almost decided to give up and continue being just a high school teacher. However, being a senior teacher that motivates my students to go above an beyond to reach their goal has pushed me to work hard and start a new journey. Though it is only the beginning of my journey, I can see graduation.
To me, this comes in the form of attending APU’s Educational and Clinical Counseling program and pursuing a career that allows me to demonstrate my ability in helping others achieve their goals. The rigorous design of this program will be a challenge to my academic grit and a testament to the skills I developed during my three years as a UCR undergraduate. The teachings and standards of this program will serve as a means of evaluating my professional experience after dedicating the last four years to supporting low-income students of color in a school environment. Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have also grown as a person by developing my conscientious, agreeable, and inquisitive personality traits that allow me to create healthy relationships and remain optimistic for the future. My academic, professional, and personal characteristics have revealed a road leading to APU’s Educational and Clinical Counseling program and I wish to materialize my vision alongside this
In an effort to continue my personal mission of helping students, I’m sure that continuing my education through the obtainment of a doctoral degree in education will increase my knowledge and ability to serve
On May 17, 2016 I walked the stage and received my diploma. I am happy I had this change in my life it matured me made me realize and learn many things but most importantly it made me a better person I do not regret this changed at all. It's never late to go back and finish what i had started I did not just go to school since preschool to just give up almost at the finish line? A quote I picked from “Superman and Me” was “I was never taught how to write poetry, short stories or novels”. Sadly I prefered to fool around in school and not paying attention in class, I wasn’t taking my education seriously at all but thankfully my life changed with just a simple change of schools.
I intend to become a high school English teacher. To accomplish this goal, I plan to attend Bates College and study English as a major and educational studies as a minor. At Bates, I will be given the resources and knowledge necessary to further my skills as a tutor and student mentor. Their Purposeful Work program, which provides students with opportunities to pursue their career goals, is deeply connected to the school and town community. Programs such as the Student Writing and Language Center, the Lewiston High School Mentor Program, and the Aspirations Club will prepare me to become a successful teacher.
I’ve sensed something in this world, those who taught us, those who i’ve helped, those i’ve caused trouble for. Those we fight as rivals only to better our survival. All of these connections we encounter in this world serve as teachers who nurture us. Being a teacher would not help others but me as well. This college will personify and reveal the potential i agape.
I am currently an Elementary Education major. I have always had a keen interest in teaching young children, but primarily in kindergarten through 3rd grade. Through recent stream of consciousness, I’ve decided that I am better suited for educating the age group birth to five uncertified, when the times comes I will become certified for the same age and kindergarten through third. My experiences in working with children prior to this are indicative of being qualified for this change in my major.

I am taking this class because it is required for becoming a teacher. I will use this knowledge when I am learning new things and using it when I am with my family and when I become a parent and a teacher. I will see the similarities and differences of people and myself and how we perceive things and from that I will learn and take in consideration what type of children I would like to teach. Yes, I plan to become a Elementary Teacher with a Bachelors, but my long term goal is Master’s.
As an education major, my end goal is to be in a classroom and this assignment allowed me to contemplate my adult career and it was so much fun doing this. With the excitement of thinking about my classroom, it was also very difficult because I am still unsure about many things in life, let alone something I will be doing for the rest of my life.
Reflecting on my educational and practical experiences, I appreciate the infinite influence that teachers have on children. I realise that children will take the skills and knowledge learnt in the classroom and use it throughout their lives. I know a teacher has to deal with many daily pressures and challenges, in the classroom. However, I feel I require the skills needed to deal with these challenges. As a teacher I hope not only to be an educator but a positive role model, whom the children can look up to and trust.
I cannot wait to get my schooling done so I can have my own classroom with my own students, curriculum, and memories to make. I will make sure that my students are aware of their potential, and will do everything I can to help them make strides in the
