The story revolves around him and his actions. In the beginning of the book, he says: “I was thirteen the first time I saw police officer up close. He was arresting me for driving without a license...they were loading Rain onto a stretcher…” (pg 3, pgph 1-2, ch 1). This is the quote that starts the book, and after this, he realizes that he has to move out of Garland. He has to move in with a former resident of Garland, Flora Donnelly, who is a social services worker, and Sophie Donnelly, her daughter.

He also provides the climax by saying: “See? Everything’s okay! I’m not dead!” (pg 194, pgph 7, ch 29). Cap crashed his own “memorial” while 1100 students are mourning for him, and announces he is not dead. The rest of the events after this are the falling action and the resolution.

Cap interacted with other people in the story by doing and teaching others tai chi. He says: “The next morning when I arrived at school to do my tai chi, Holly van Arden asked if she could join me. Naomi was already waiting for us.” This shows that he has invited many people to do tai chi with him, including Naomi, who is in Zach’s friend
