when speaking on a subject such as obesity not everyone will relate or understand what people go through and the daily life of someone who is obese. The best way for other to understand what obesity actually is and the effects of this chronic disease is by looking to gather information from those who actually go through it themselves. I choose to interview a neighborhood friend who was previously obese in her younger years and has now has lost a ton of weight since then. When interviewing her I made sure that she was comfortable with asking her certain questions of her previous situation and what it took to get to this point in her life. Previously in her teens she weighted about 294 and her height was listed as 5’6.

“I was always overweight but never was really worried about my weight as a kid you don’t necessarily worry about what you look like but as I got older I began to gain more and more weight and soon after my freshman year of high school I began to realize that my weight was spiraling out of control and felt my body changing for the worst and my eating habits becoming even worst” what limitations did your weight cause you?
“my weight caused me to be insecure first and foremost, I would walk around in public and will literally hear people body shaming me due to what I looked like. It caused me to feel like I was different from everyone else and caused discomfort to even step out of my home at the moment it was a very depressing time in my life.”
At what point did you feel like you needed to make a change in your life?
“At the age of 17 I felt that I was old enough to realize that a change was needed and I wanted to have a better overall life and wanted to be as health as possible, not only for my self but for my future and for my family, I soon began to take charge of my life began to make better choice with my physical fitness and eating habits and it has changed my life
