It is clear that obesity is no longer an emerging crisis but instead it has become an epidemic. There have been several different factors that play into how obesity has grown to become the issue it has but it is hard to place the blame on any one person. It can be argued that the parents of obese children are the ones’ to blame if their children are overweight or obese, but who is not to say that the issue originated from the companies that sell these unhealthy products to the consumers. Calling childhood obesity childhood abuse is drastic term since it is unclear as to who would be held responsible for this national issue. Some countries have taken the stance that the responsibility for childhood obesity falls onto the parents. This side of the argument is logically sound since it is left up to the parents to supply healthier food options for their children because children have little to no say on the kinds of food that is available in their household. These parents would be reported to child and family services authorities, which is the same department that handles childhood abuse. This method of action was proposed since the parents are the ones that are setting their children up for a life full of increased risk of diabetes, heart disease and so many other health issues leading to a lower quality of life for the children.
