Religions have greatly shaped their followers' lives by their origin stories, societal teachings, and tone in their writings. Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism are different in their attitudes and creation stories, but similar in their social impacts. %Origin In the Islam, Hindu, and Buddhism beliefs and teachings, they differ in the number of gods worshiped and origin of life. In the Five Pillars of Faith, the Shahadat duty requires that "A Muslim must acknowledge that 'There is no God but Allah...'".
There is still an ongoing debate between Hinduism and Buddhism. Buddhism is commonly known as the offshoot of Hinduism and Buddha is seen as originally being a part of Hindu religion. It is widely understood that Buddhism derived from Hinduism and became popular in India. Both Hinduism and Buddhism originate from the subcontinent, India and were formed in ancient times. They are very similar from afar, but when seen up close they far from the same.
The second reason the religions are similar is because of their gods. Both of them have gods. Hinduism has Brahma, Shiva, Vishnu and 300 million more while Buddhism has The Buddha. The third reason that Hinduism and Buddhism are similar is because of their social structure. Reincarnation allows people to move up or down in class if they have good or bad karma.

It is unbelievable that Hinduism has been able to maintain its religion and culture for over 3,500 years and Buddhism for 2,800 years. The two religions I have chosen to compare are Buddhism and Christianity. In the Buddhism religion they have 379 million followers, mainly practiced in Southeast Asia, use the Dhammapada as their holy book and believe in people achieve happiness after they eliminate their attachment to worldly things. In the Christianity religion they have two billion followers, mainly practiced in Latin and North America, use the Christian bible as their holy book and believe in one God who watches over and cares for people. One of the differences that I have found between these two religions is the “God” they believe in.
