Over time society has been introduced to many major world belief systems such as Hinduism, Daoism, Judaism, Christianity, Buddhism, and Islam. However, the three most popular belief systems in the world are Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism. Christianity is the largest religion in the world, and is based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ; secondly, Islam is the second largest religion in the world, and is a monotheistic religion of the Muslims that tell the teachings of Allah; and lastly Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world, that conglomerated all of the religious, philosophical, and cultural ideas and practices that originated in India. The religious text Christianity revolves around is known as The Bible, which consist of The Old Testament and The New Testament. There are many key events in the bible such as the story of David and Goliath, and the story of Noah and the Ark; however the most important event in Christianity’s history is the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This event is considered the most important event in its history because Christianity is based and revolved around the life and teachings of Christ. Key figures in Christianity include Jesus, Mary and Joseph, Moses, David and Goliath, and Noah. Christianity is similar to the Islamic religion by it being monotheistic (belief in one god), however, Hinduism is a polytheistic religion (belief in many gods). When Christianity emerged from Jerusalem; the impact it had on society was to create a relationship with Jesus Christ, and to spread Christianity across the world so that others will be saved from their own sins.
