1.8 Developing maintaining classroom control requires both authority and power authority can be defined as the right to make decisions that affect the choices available to other people Authority is conferred the department of education and the school governing body delegate the responsibility for educating learners to educators and grant them the authority to act in accordance with this responsibility. Power on the other hand must be earned although educators may be given the authority to certain educational decisions they cannot be given power to make learners comply with these decisions for example, an educator may use authority to assign a task to learners but he or she will have to use power to get them to do it. 1.9 Attractive power also called referent power this Is the power educators have because they are likable and know how to cultivate human relationships. Expert power this power accrues to an educator who is an expert in his or her field of study such educators usually have a great enthusiasm for their subject and this is contagious compelling learners to get involved Reward power this power is based on the skill of recognising appreciating and rewarding accomplishments of leaner in so doing affecting the behaviour of
While all children and young people must understand and follow the rules, it is important that adults at school consider that all children are different and that some could need additional support in following these rules. Children with certain behaviour challenges could need more regular reminders of what is expected from them and may also benefit from extra incentives for good behaviour, such as reward charts. If extra rewards systems are put into place in a classroom to encourage positive behaviour then it must be ensured that this is maintained and that the child or young person understands that good choices equal rewards and positive attention. Students are more likely make good choices with an understanding that there is always a consequence for negative behaviour and so it is crucial that the behaviour management is well managed and consistent. Students could take the opportunity to push boundaries if they believe they may not receive a consequence for a bad choice and this could have a poor effect on their development and learning.
I believe my Classroom Management Plan will work to provide the students with a safe and supportive learning environment in providing them with resources that will benefit them for their learning in the classroom. I will provide guidelines and instruction for them to follow in in order to provide a safe and respectful environment for all students. I will have differentiation instruction to support all students learning and listen to my students to gain feedback for my lessons and teaching styles. I plan on getting to know students and building meaningful relationships with them by showing that I care about them and them being successful learners in my classroom. I will engage in activities to get all my students to get to
Over the past few years of my undergraduate classes, I have received the opportunity to expand my knowledge through different teaching experiences. I have had the opportunity to observe and implement different strategies in the classroom, giving me examples of how I would like to see my future classroom look. I have established ideas about teaching and learning that have impacted me in a great way. I have developed beliefs I would like to some day see in my classroom but, I am always willing to learn and take constructive criticism in my teaching as well. I strongly believe that classroom management is key to student and teacher success in the classroom.
Dustin, we both fell under the Authoritative category. We are similar in the ways that we manage our classrooms. I do not assign a classroom seating chart wither, unless students are disrupting class with their behavior. I like the fact that you brought up the word punishment, because it was not until I learned the definition and difference between punishment, consequences (reinforcement), and discipline that I truly began to understand why classroom management is extremely important. Before I even decided that I wanted to become a teacher, I was trained on classroom management utilizing these terms.
I believe that each and every child is unique in their own way. Who needs a secure and caring environment in which they can grow and mature emotionally, cognitively, physically, and socially. That’s why for me it’s important to help the students meet their full potential in this areas by providing an environment that is safe and also a place where they are able to share their ideas with each other and to let them explore their curiosity because after all that’s how they learn. As a teacher I feel that we should motivate our students to become the best that they can be by incorporating in our curriculum the many theories that we have learn in this class so that we can help them achieve their full potential. Since not all students learn the same
In regards to the principles of Christian education, I believe that students must be committed to excellence and extremely passionate about having a Christ-centered schooling environment as they strive for, attain, and maintain high standards. Curriculum developers must take into consideration that true learning and wisdom can only occur within a worldview that acknowledges that every square inch of creation belongs to God. As teachers teach, they must be highly qualified and passionate about Christ and Christian school excellence. It is my belief that, no matter how hard one studied and capitalizes on the worldly aspects of materialistic things; his or her life is not worthwhile unless God is the head in all the plans that he wants to ascertain. Teaching and learning should be personalizes to prepare each student for God’s unique call to his or her life.
I myself am native speaker, and English is my second language, but if it would be me the kid who goes to school in America and everything I study at school is in english and not related to me in anyway, whether it is my language or my history then, of course I would need to learn my native language because I don’t live my homeland and this is my school now that will teach who I would be tomorrow, So yes I agree and support the school system that offers teaching kids their Native Language, because they are teaching kids who they are. I was doing observation at Minnesota Math and Science Academy “Charter School” for my other Education Class, and while I was observing their I realized that 80% of the students at the school belong to same ethnicity background, and I happen to the same question whether they teach kids their native language or
To professional teacher to create a climate of ownership by ensuring that everyone involved in the educational process is invited to participate. As a teacher believe
Classroom management is the foundation to every student’s learning process. It sets the stage for creativity, problem-solving, and production. Students engage when the classroom is well organized. Throughout my childhood, art has meant freedom of self-expression and I would like to parallel that kind of freedom in my classroom, sharing my passion for the many expressions of art. My students will be free to express themselves creatively in my classroom and they will use art to better understand themselves and the world around them.
I think the most important reason to become a teacher is because you have a passion for helping children. Teachers that have a passion for helping students grow and mature as individuals make the best teachers. They care about getting to know the student on an individual and personal level. A teacher that wants to do everything that they can do to see that student be successful not only in school, but also in life. The second reason for wanting to be a teacher, is wanting to make a change in a student's life.
Imagine this; you are a young college student working toward becoming a teacher. You are attending a third grade classroom for an observation. You walk in expecting a typical classroom; desks in a line, computers, bright lights, maybe a rug on the floor. However, when you arrive you see that the lights are dim, there is a full-sized couch in the middle of the room, a tall table and bar stools, and beanbags scattered around.
Teacher The occupation I chose is a teacher. I would love to be a teacher since it seems like so much of fun! Along with that, I can relate to why I want to be a teacher since I used to play school all the time with my friends, and even my siblings. On top of that, I help my younger brother, Ryan , with his homework and projects when he has trouble.
Teaching If people like kids and love summers you should consider being a teacher. They get to work with kids all day and don't HAVE to work in summers unless you want to teach summer school. the first thing people probably wonder is how much teachers make. Well it depends on what kind of teacher they are.
c) There are four main classroom management theorists that I find align most with my philosophies and values for teaching, they are: Lee and Marlene Canter; Harry and Rosemary Wong; William Glasser; and C.M. Charles’s work on “gentle discipline”. The Canter’s developed “assertive discipline” which is based on “the conceptualization of the teacher as the final authority in the classroom” (Fennimore, 1995, p. 180). The Wong’s are famous for stressing the importance of routines and the need for high expectations starting on the first day.
