Classroom Management Philosophy Statement

Classroom management is the foundation to every student’s learning process. It sets the stage for creativity, problem-solving, and production. Students engage when the classroom is well organized. Throughout my childhood, art has meant freedom of self-expression and I would like to parallel that kind of freedom in my classroom, sharing my passion for the many expressions of art. My students will be free to express themselves creatively in my classroom and they will use art to better understand themselves and the world around them.

My classroom will be clean and orderly with clearly organized supplies. Cleaning stations will have pictures of what they should look like, complete with cleaning charts that rotate through the student roster. There will be vibrant colors throughout the room including student art work, posters, and art of my own. In the Southeast corner, my desk will sit facing North. A large world map showing my travels will sit behind my desk, complete with red string, pins and photos. This is important to me as I want to share my experiences with new cultures. I believe this will spark creativity, adventure, and inspiration in my students.

On the East wall, a large counter that will have two large sinks side-by-side in the middle. Cabinets will be above them and on either side of the sinks. All of the cabinets, cupboards, and counter space will hold and store art supplies. The North will be dedicated to sculpture and ceramics while the South will be dedicated
