Your role as a teacher
I believe that my classroom management style is clear and concise, and invites all students to participate. By collaborating with my students, we will come up with rules and consequences of breaking them that holds the children responsible for their own actions. I plan on getting to know the students through class discussions and interactive activities too. I will also reach out to guardians of these children, and set up a meeting in the beginning of the year. I believe this would be good, because they can learn about me and get an idea of what the classroom environment will be like, as well as state any concerns they may have.
Firstly when in cooperating classroom management before you even meet your pupils there are a few thinks to consider such as the design of your classroom to meet the holistic goals of your class. As the teacher you will have to structure your classroom that it will give off an welcoming feeling to the pupils, so they will be comfortable to work in that environment. As humans we sometimes get carried away when we are doing well, anything! However when setting up your classroom it is important not to clutter the walls especially with un useful charts and posters that are not relevant to what the pupils have learnt. Clutter walls are not welcoming but overwhelming and sever more as a disruptive distraction against your goal of managing your class
As a result, they make assumptions as to what students will understand . As a result, a teacher may leave out necessary information, not provide adequate tome to do an activity and skip some steps. I term this the experts curse. We teach as if the student should know this, because the teacher knows it so well. Paul and his writing skills “Reading is a pathway to learning”. Most problems of Paul in writing an essay is he’s not aware of using vocabulary words and grammars. To learn something can improve Paul’s skills in writing and reading informations can lead to a better knowledge. Interesting works are the reason to get the attention of Paul. Dustin, we both fell under the Authoritative category. We are similar in the ways that we manage our classrooms. I do not assign a classroom seating chart wither, unless students are disrupting class with their behavior. I like the fact that you brought up the word punishment, because it was not until I learned the definition and difference between punishment, consequences (reinforcement), and discipline that I truly began to understand why classroom management is extremely important. Before I even decided that I wanted to become a teacher, I was trained on classroom management utilizing these terms.
The learning process should be simplified by giving the learners the most elementary skills so that they are ready for the more intricate ones. Teachers need to build trust with their learners. This means: do not pass judgement, do not make them feel foolish or unworthy, do not condemn them for their errors, and be patient for as long as possible. Most importantly show them that teachers make errors too, often having to ask for help or looking up a word they do not understand out of a dictionary. Presenting this behaviour will show the learners that having to look something up or not knowing a certain fact is not an indication of idiocy or limitation of character.
When a teacher gets his or her first classroom there are many things they will want to incorporate including book nooks, teacher workspace, student workspace, etc. However, it is not always easy for them to find space for everything they want with what they are given. Some obstacles include door placement, windows, and built-in furniture. Finding room for what a teacher wants in their classroom and incorporating what is given to them can be tricky but it is something all teachers have to do at least once in their career. There are also many important details that teachers must think about when designing their classroom such as accessibility, distractions, and whether or not the teacher can see all of the students all of the time.
I believe a teacher plays the role as a guide and a supporter in students’ learning progress. A true teacher’s desire is not on solving students’ problems but to train students in identifying problems and discovering
Most of my role models and mentors who had an impact on my life tended to be teachers. This happens to be the case since teachers shape students’ lives as they instruct them throughout their early age. As I grew as a student, my views on teachers developed, knowing superior from inferior or welcoming from ignorant. Most teachers who taught me were never just one end of the spectrum, and each had their strengths and weaknesses. However, those who were extraordinary stood out to me.
The responsibilities of a teacher in the classroom often go beyond teaching facts, figures and basic skills. It incorporates many facets of life, including social and emotional skills. I am excited to teach students something new. I taught my students’ two different, yet connected math lessons to begin my learning about my teaching techniques at Delaware. The lessons were on how to count to twenty, double digits, adding and subtracting.
If one student struggles with a certain area, like math, for example, then the teacher should set time aside and explain in a way that can be understood for the student. It should also be noted that not all students will grasp concepts in the same way. Bob may understand a math or science problem the way it was taught out loud in class, but Susie may get it in a complete different way when the teacher has a one on one with her and come up with a different way for Susie to
Role of the teacher I believe the teacher in the classroom is supposed to help guide students through their learning experiences and ensure that when obstacles arise that the student has a way to surpass it so they can refocus their attention on learning. We see this in the social cognitive theory by having teachers constantly evaluating how different aspects of reciprocal determinism might be interacting with one another for each of their students. By understanding what is going on with their students and how that impacts all the other areas that make up learning the teacher can decide where to take students next on their educational journey or what issues need to be addressed to help easy the students frustrations when problems arise. Throughout this course, I learned a lot about classroom management. First and foremost, I learned what classroom management was. According to our Elementary Classroom Management book, it is “Promoting learning with the use of tools that help students develop cognitively and socially in a setting together (Williams, 332). In addition, I learned that there are many attributes that make up a classroom. However, there are three aspects that I believe to be most important, and those include the physical environment, the emotional environment, and a well-managed discipline and punishment system.
