On Wednesday, 06/15/2016 at approximately 1611 hours, Jackson County Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call for an ambulance. The caller wanted an ambulance for a 2 year old boy that nearly drowned. The location of the incident was at the Spring Arbor subdivision beach area, which was located at the end of Spring Arbor Dr. Carbondale, Jackson County, Illinois. The mother of the boy was performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) while 9-1-1 was called. I, Deputy Stacy Stark #1815, responded to the call.
The fourth finding I found was that even though Pre-K environments have an emphasis on group activities there was often a designated area in the classroom where children could go and be alone and self-reflect. However, these spaces were used differently throughout the three programs. In one program children went to what they called the “cool down chair” when they misbehaved. In this particular program usually a talkative child who may have been disruptive would have to go to the chair and think about what he or she did wrong. The chair was located in a corner where there were crayons and other play items that the child was allowed to use, but mainly it was a sort of punishment.
Slowly, other students made their way into the classroom. As the bell sounded, Mr. Thomas, Manuel’s eighth grade history teacher, stood up behind his desk. He was a large man with a wide face and short brown hair. For the most part, students appreciated his well prepared lessons and pleasant personality. “I would like to introduce a former student,” said Mr. Thomas.
I observed Laua Kapeller’s fourth grade class at Blackhurst elementary on November 18, 2016. The concept of the day was to refresh the students on perimeter and area of objects for the subject of math. The methods Ms. Kapeller used to teach the students was by power point and wooden block that were one-inch-wide and one inch in height. She explained the directions to the class first before handing out the blocks. She separated the class into partners and later on in the activity the partners had to form a group by joining other partners because of the amount of blocks the activity called for.
I have been doing my student observation at Scobee Middle School with Coach David Ellis. He currently teaches 8th grade U.S. History. Coach Ellis has different approach for each child in his different classes. These approach help him keep the class in order and help keep the students on track.

I was able to positively and effectively communicate with children of all ages from preschool to elementary age during my time at the many experience locations. While volunteering, it was necessary to use age-appropriate knowledge and proper tone for the children to keep engaged while speaking to their ability. On the sixteenth of November, I observed the Eastridge High School Concert Band, under the direction of Mr. Jeff Hoffman. It is important to mention that the piece being rehearsed have been worked on for around a month and a half, with Mr. Hoffman around half the band for forty minutes a day. The concert was a little less than a month away. The rehearsal, which began at seven-thirty am, started off on a great note.
Officers were dispatched to 1958 N Mansard Blvd for a report of loud yelling being heard in the hallways. Upon arrival, officers did not observe anyone inside the hallway or hear any yelling at that time. Several of the local residents came out and stated that the resident in apartment 2E has causing multiple problems. They stated that she has several young children that she does not know how to control. They stated they are always running around the hallways yelling and making unreasonable noise.
Upon evaluation results, the CSE recommended Resource Room (5:1) and Speech/Language Therapy small group (5:1) for Jackson’s 1st grade special education programs. His program modifications and accommodations included fidgeting and reasonable movement, directions repeated, preferential seating arrangements, refocusing and redirection, and check for understanding. Jackson continued at Northridge Primary School, in 2nd Grade resource room was replaced with Integrated Co-Teaching Services in the classroom. Also, Jackson continued to receives small group Speech/Language Therapy and program modifications/accommodations remained the same. Jackson began Burr Intermediate School in the 3rd Grade.
My hands started clamming up as I walked into the familiar classroom. I sat at a desk in the second row in the front of the class room. When Candace entered I gave her an I'm-going-to-do-it look. She nodded and took a seat not too far from me. Chatter started in the class since Orion hadn't arrived yet.
Everyone has to figure out what they will do for the rest of their lives after they finish high school and be ready to start that job right after college. Honestly, most people don't even know what they want to do until after their sophomore year of college. Being a middle school teacher is a marvelous job; a numerous amount of subjects can be taught, that is what makes teaching middle school extraordinary. Of all the people wanting to be teachers, there are only "614,400 jobs for middle school teachers in the United States" (Bureau of Labor Statistics). That is the thing about teaching, schools are always looking for more teachers and good ones too.
Over the past few months, the class has been discussing typical and atypical language development and the assessment and intervention of children with language delay or disorder. In line with this, the students were asked to observe children aged 0-12 years old with language problems for 2 hours. For this requirement, I went to a therapy center situated in Quezon City last November 16, from ten (10) A.M. to twelve (12) N.N. The center has multiple rooms that are used for speech therapy and occupational therapy. During my observation, two speech pathologists and two children with language disorder were sharing one speech therapy room.
As a child, I would spend my weekends venturing into the art of potion-making. I would dress in an old apron and imagine myself as a scientist concocting “medicines” of lotions, soaps, and nail polishes for “pharmaceuticals.” I reflect back on this and realize that even in adolescence, I had a passion for science, but never would I have imagined that my future would hold college labs for the UCR Summer Research Program, which helped me officially decide that I wanted to enter medicine. During the summer of my junior year, young chemists and myself worked in the labs of four chemistry professors at UCR to aid graduate students with their research. OVERVIEW The elementary school that I observed at, Orchard View Elementary, was located in Delray Beach, FL. The location was very accessible and right off of the highway. The teacher I got assigned to was Ms. Diann Johnson. She teaches a class for students in 3rd-5th grade.
Classroom Observations Mrs. Canada is the first grade teacher that I observed, and the subject that she was teaching was reading. She had planned well-organized power points and crafting materials in advance, so she was prepared for the lesson. The two times I observed, the lesson that was being taught at both times was reading. Children in the classroom used a lot of previous knowledge for the lesson.
