Success is always a personal definition; for some it is through the family’s prosperity, for others it is the depth of the good they do in the world, the list is endless, yet they all have one thing in common, a chosen occupation. My career incentives are not only to be financially successful but enjoy the personal happiness that comes from creating security for my family while helping the world locally and globally. As a college student I am trying to acquire the foresight to create the direction and drive needed to make my dreams a reality. A lack of knowlage at work limited the effectiveness of our experiences because we could not utilize our full potential for the company in either terms of efficiency or specific tasks for lack of general as well as specific comprehension. This year I want to eliminate the lack of educational frustration, so I can better evaluate the field of work being explored. I consider Columbia’s summer programs’ most valuable assets to be their efficient use of time with my being able to merit 2 internships with their related classes into one summer. My family has worked in real estate and private equity for numerous generations. I grew up traveling to board meetings, watching family members navigate the private and public sectors. The learning differences I have necessitated I work with professionals over the years to learn how to manage my differences to my advantage. The training has also provided confidence as I learned how to deal with adults and professionals early in life. However, even though I had learned how to hold my own well enough to excel in high school, the nature of Babson’s school work came as a surprising challenge. I did not do as well as I expected the first year as Babson uses a totally new and different type of learning process than what I have been used to, that and accounting was initially difficult for me, though not now. I am learning how to manage a whole new world of learning requirements while creating my own company. A novel situation, as you can imagine.
