My doctoral journey seems longer than the average. I'm hustling in my own time zone and growth with the detour I have ever taken.
Most of my family members received their higher education in different areas, and I chose Animal Science as the starting point to accomplish my dreams. Animal-related research had always fascinated me and my interest in the field dates back to my childhood when I was fond of observing animals in the zoo and farm, and it eventually motivated me to choose a related major. Throughout my four-years of undergraduate study at Sichuan Agricultural University, I had great chance to participate in dermatology research on giant pandas, which built the foundation for my passion. It also helped me to develop a basic understanding of research and helped me get admitted to graduate school.

Athens is also one of the most diverse cities in the South with people and students from nations all over the world. I was born and raised in Chengdu, China, a large city famous for international market trade and rich history. Growing up in such a diversity environment, I enjoyed to work and live with people with different backgrounds, and realize how important it is to have international communication and the benefits it brings to my career. Moreover, University of Georgia has one of the best Poultry science program. It not just offers excellent opportunities for scientific study, but also industrial and academic connection. All of this it’s perfectly matches with the checklist I have listed for myself, and it convinced me that this is the opportunity I have been looking
