The moment I discovered my father chose to left my family had brought a significant impact on my life. Instead of being angry about my life, I turned this into the momentum of achieving my dreams. So I became the top student in my schools, and because of that, our district’s Hokkien Association had awarded me scholarships every year in my study. Help to build a better world is always one of my dreams, but I only discovered “how” I am going to implement it after I travelled on a plane. Seeing the gigantic machine flying high in the sky, its sophisticated design intrigued me to learn about aircraft and ignited my passion to study aerospace engineering.

As I live far from my college and there was no direct transit to reach there, I needed to ride two buses in order to arrive at college. Spending at least 4 hours in buses for every school day means I finished my assignments and revisions mostly on buses. However, I managed to complete my course with 100% attendance instead of using it as an excuse of being late or absent, and submitted my assignments on time every time, and eventually graduated with exceptional results. Not to mention my participation in IMU Science Discovery Challenge, which I had qualified into the semi-final round and competed with 60 teams at the national level. At the beginning of my second semester, I decided to work as a part-time tutor at a tuition centre to earn savings for the university. In spite of my tight studying schedule, I enjoyed being a tutor as I gained the opportunity to share my knowledge with the younger generation. Despite the course is challenging, but my passion and diligent earned me the certificates for both courses. Nevertheless, studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Sheffield provide me a chance to have hands-on practical experience using the state-of-the-art facilities which cannot experience by studying online courses. Furthermore, studying in a research-intensive university, with the course covering basic mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as computer science and material science, it can help me to explore in different industries and prepare for my future career.
