Coming from an exceptionally poor family has had a major impact on me. I’ve always known that I would have to work extra hard to be successful during my life. When I graduated high school, I didn’t have a plan and the thought of college didn’t cross my mind. I had been working dead end jobs for a few years when I realized I had to find a way to better my life and the future for myself and my family. Without even knowing what I wanted to major in, I started the enrollment process and began a journey that would give me an education and experience I could never replace. Completing my bachelor’s degree has been long and trying, but over the years, I have found inner strength and motivation to always push forward.

Earning my bachelor’s degree at Adams State University has been the greatest accomplishment I have ever attained. I am the first person in my family to earn a college degree which is something I am very proud of. College has been a major positive influence in my life. Having to be responsible, determined and consistent has shown me that I can achieve anything I set my mind to. I always want to challenge myself and continue to grow and learn. This independence has led me to develop a strong character that is unique and irreplaceable. I have worked very hard to earn my bachelors degree. This accomplishment has taught me that anything is possible, if you put your heart and mind into it. The Graduate Tax Program at the University of Denver is a good fit for me because this opportunity will provide me with an outstanding education and develop my skills.
