The life lesson learned in the short story is to never take away other people's opportunities in life just because you are jealous. The author of “All Summer in a Day” writes “All a joke!’ said the boy, and seized her roughly. ‘Hey, everyone, let’s put her in a closet before the teacher comes!’” (Bradbury 3). This shows Margot's classmates were bullying her due to jealousy because they put her in a closet just so she could not see the sun, something she had been looking forward to doing. Also, her classmates were laughing at her because she said that the sun was going to come out that day and no one believed her, so that also led to her being put into the closet. In the text, it states, “‘You’re lying, you don’t remember!’ cried the children” (2). This proves Margot’s classmates were jealous of her and bullied her for it because they were saying mean things to her, such as she was lying. Also, they were bullying her because they did not believe she had seen the sun before due to her not being able to remember what it looked like.
