GMU vs VCU Which university is a better choice for me: George Mason University or Virginia Commonwealth University? In order to determine whether VCU or GMU is the best college for you, there are several factors that need to be considered. Cost is a significant factor when choosing a university. After conducting thorough research and comparing the costs of attending GMU and VCU, it is evident that GMU is a more affordable option. According to the CollegeSimply website, the total cost of VCU is $35,067, while GMU's total cost is relatively lower at $31,303 (“CollegeSimply”). Overall, both colleges have similar costs, but GMU would cost less than VCU. Location is another crucial aspect to consider. Although both colleges are in Virginia, GMU is more convenient than VCU for Northern Virginia residents. As claimed by the CollegeVine website, GMU is located in Fairfax, VA, while VCU is in the city of Richmond (“CollegeVine”).
