There are many prominent and breathtaking universities where you can learn all you need to help you in the modern world. However, the University of North Carolina is not one of them. They were recently caught in a scandal where they created fake classes to help students, and especially student athletes graduate and have an easier time remaining eligible to play according to (Newsobserver), a newspaper. For that reason and many others, the University of Virginia is much superior to UNC.
One of the many ways the University of Virginia is ahead of North Carolina is in academics. UVA has built an enriching academic program that better prepares all of their students for life outside of college. UVA’s Darden School of Business ranked first in all …show more content…

They have dominated in many sports. For example, in 2015 UVA won the Capital One Cup which rewards points for how well your team does in a NCAA sport over a year. While UVA won this, UNC finished 26th. One sport UVA dominates in is baseball. While the University of Virginia won the national championship in 2015, North Carolina has never won one. Virginia has also done extremely well when not winning the title. They have advanced to the NCAA baseball tournament 13 straight years, and North Carolina has advanced only once in the past 3 years. UVA also has many stars now in the professional leagues including Ryan Zimmerman, a very talented player who’s won many awards such as the Gold Glove. This is awarded to one of the top defensive players that year. Another sport UVA dominates in is tennis. Virginia has won three straight national titles, leaving North Carolina in the dust. UVA also outperformed North Carolina in football this past season. Virginia finished the regular season with a record of 6-6 and making a bowl, while North Carolina finished with a record of 3-9, and did not make a bowl. Virginia also beat them head to head this season winning 20 to 14. Lastly, UVA basketball is having a tremendous season. Right now, they have a record of 12-1, and they are ranked at 9 overall.
