Romeo and Juliet was a play written by William Shakespeare. William Shakespeare was a playwriter, English poet, and actor. He is known for some of his plays and for creating a lot of the English language. When he wrote the play Romeo and Juliet he became even more well known. Most people think the play is called Romeo and Juliet but its actual name is “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet”. This play is about two feuding families and their children becoming star crossed lovers. It all started when Romeo knew Rosaline would never marry him. Therefore, his friend Mercutio tries to cheer him up. Romeo meets Juliet and they instantly fall in love. They know their families would never let them be together so they get married secretly. Then everything starts to go downhill. Romeo is a seventeen-year-old boy who was falling in love. It all began when Romeo missed the fight. He was too busy being sad over Rosaline that he missed the fight. Therefore, Mercutio tries to cheer him up by sneaking him into the Capulets …show more content…

The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is one of most well-known plays written by William Shakespeare. Even though reading this play can be difficult, in the end everyone gets the main idea of the story. Most people think that this is a very romantic play, but I do not. When I think of Romeo and Juliet I think about how the family feud made their only children kill themselves because they couldn’t tell their parents they were in love. They were afraid to tell their parents because they knew their parents couldn’t handle them being together. At the end of the play the two families were still fighting but they built statues of the other family’s child in the town square. The two families should have come together and gotten over the feud.
