Advertisement is a word that describes the promotion of something, whether it is a person or an object. Companies target a specific audience for the sole purpose of connecting with them to purchase their brand. Companies such as Nike market an abundance of products that all connect in the sense that all their products are for the typical athlete or those who want to have an athletic appearance. The Nike advertisement for football cleats target football players who want to have better traction to the grass and a lightweight feel, whereas the Nike skateboarding shoe advertisement targets the skateboarder who needs a breathable feeling when “shredding big air” at the skate park. The two advertisements were both found inside the October edition of Eastbay's magazine. Eastbay is a supplier company that relates to Footlocker that promotes athletic equipment, footwear, and apparel. The audience that Eastbay is attempting to draw in is the general group of athletes and/or people who simply just enjoy the athletic style and pursue the life of an athlete. The best thing about having athletes as an audience is that there is no age limit. There will always be athletes in the world and most athletes begin their journey as children meaning their Pruitt 2 whole lives have been revolved around sports and that they have been wearing sports apparel their whole lives. And when they get older, in most cases, athletes produce athletic offspring who can follow in their parent’s footsteps. With the two advertisements, they both promote sports that are very mainstream and will last forever because the market is constantly expanding and more athletes are getting better at their crafts that the competition level will constantly
