I began to write a personal statement that would follow a design or formula that would be all too familiar to any admissions counselor. After reflection of my life and my future goals, I decided that following a formula would not do me any justice.
For my entire life, I followed a formula set in front of me by my parents. They set a blueprint for a successful life in front of me and coached me for many years on how to be successful. They even taught me the ability to deal with adversity and sure failures. One minor flaw in their plan was teaching me to deal with the largest roadblock: myself. I love to give back to others, and I see this as an opportunity to help my peers. Through education of our contract and work rules, to representing my peers in meetings with management, I have used my role as a Shop Steward as a way to give back to others.
My goals in law school can be tied to one large goal: intellectual enrichment. Through this single goal, I will achieve my other goals of preparing myself for a life in practicing law, learning how to even further sharpen my skills of time management, motivation, and balance. Law school also prepares students for the ability to overcome life’s unknowns and its many obstacles. This preparation leads me to another goal- constant preparedness. If I am constantly prepared for anything, I will likely be able to succeed at any obstacle.
The Florida International University Law School celebrates one of the most diverse student bodies. The student body is known for giving back to the community- a gesture I admire and excited to carry on. The outstanding faculty is known for its commitment to scholarship and furthering their fields of expertise.
