OSU Personal Statement

Growing up on a small cattle operation in central Oklahoma, my parents quickly instilled in me a love for the agricultural way of life, and that passion is what led me to become the 13th person in my family to attend Oklahoma State University. While my background and experiences are not very unique when compared to many of my great friends and classmates at OSU, my upbringing served as a motivation to excel and succeed in all of my endeavors and pursue a career in agricultural law. Coming from a small school, I had very limited opportunities to involve myself in extracurricular activities. After nearly losing my academic scholarships, I was no longer focused on where to apply for law school, but rather whether I could remain a student at OSU. When I think of significance, I think of the moments that completely changed my life. Receiving an F was perhaps one the most significant things to ever happen to me. I had to take a step back and no longer desired to pursue every endeavor I could find for the sake of name advancement, résumé building or personal gain. Instead, I wholeheartedly sought after a select few opportunities with purpose of making the lives of others better, while maintaining a part-time job and my academic priorities. In fact, I am proud to say that I have not received a mark below an A since the F, will be graduating debt-free, and have once again set my sights on law school. Although I do not consider myself a truly exceptional or significant person, I feel that my experience at Oklahoma State University has left a significant impact because of my intentionality with organizations, endeavors, and most importantly people. From recruiting of prospective students as a campus tour guide to coordinating the 2017 Homecoming Celebration, my efforts at OSU have since been focused on dedication and service
