How do makeup companies test animals and what is the effect that their tests have on them? Consider a world full of cruelty-free products and animals that could live in a happy home or habitat instead of a science lab. “The question is not, "Can they reason?" nor, "Can they talk?" but rather, "Can they suffer?" We all have a voice to stand up for ourselves but animals are forced to be tested on because they don’t have a choice. Rabbits are an example of innocent animals that are subjected to substances being dripped into their eyes and that’s known as a draize test. Beforehand the rabbit’s eyes are completely normal but the results are painful inflammation and serious blisters. If a simple eyelash in your eye hurts imagine the poor rabbits that have painful blisters on their eyes. The sad part is, that’s only one type of test that are done on rabbits because there are much more that vary in consequences. Rabbits and mice are the main animals that tests are performed on using cosmetics or cosmetic ingredients. There is a huge range of different cosmetic tests that are done on these animals and they have painful effects. Popular skincare brands that do animal testing are: Neutrogena, Cetaphil, Clean & Clear, Clearasil, and Clarisonic. An alternative for animal tested skincare products is the brand Lush. Not only does Lush use all natural ingredients but is also cruelty-free so what more could you ask for? Since they do use natural ingredients, it is much better to use on your skin instead of harsh chemicals in other products. Using Lush natural products will pay off in the long run and your skin will thank you later. To sum up everything, there are cruelty-free products for both makeup and skincare but it may be a challenge to use all cruelty-free
