Animal rights are the claims that animals get to live in freedom from use in medical research, hunting, and other services to humans. There are many ways how animals lose the rights to these claims. Animals lose their rights for human purposes in many methods, including slaughterhouses, Seaworld captivity, Whole Foods, horse slaughter, and makeup and product testing. Makeup and product testing is a huge problem across different countries. Canada is currently still allowing for animals to be tested on for cosmetics. Many Canadians thought the animal testing was over years ago, but it is still legal for animals to be poisoned, go blind, and even killed. The European Union (the world’s largest beauty market) has already banned makeup imports of non cruelty free makeup brands. “So far, more than 80,000 have said no to cruel cosmetics” (Naked, 2015). Many animal testing has begun in 1930s-1940s, it’s time to move on from these outdated cruel tests to the history books. The grocery store has a very misleading claim about the welfare of the meat they sell. After a couple visits to Jamestown and a 40 hour investigation, DXE (Direct Action Everywhere) found the conditions were inhumane. Turkeys were living in filthy and very crowded barns. The air inside had ammonia and there were feathers and dried fecal particles everywhere. In Jamestown, the turkeys were languishing or dead. There were feces everywhere, same places over a half foot deep and the birds were trapped in it. Many of the birds had several wounds and bruises. “However, the showcase farm does not, in face, raise any animals for sale---it’s nothing more than a prop.” (Moyer, 2015).
