To whom it may concern. Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Ashlynne Alvarez Gomez. I am currently working at a county jail facility in the substance abuse department as a counselor. I received my bachelor’s degree in criminal justice in 2022 from Bethel University. While I was obtaining my bachelor’s degree, I was faced with some difficult challenges. But I faced those challenges head on and conquered all of them. I currently work as a substance abuse counselor in a jail facility, working with the male population of inmates. Some of these individuals have not had the opportunity to further their education or career. That is why I want to further my education, to not only provide them with the knowledge that I have learned, but to also be the best counselor I can be, and one they deserve. I want to lead by example, and show them that it is possible to do the impossible. I also want them to learn that challenging yourself, and overcoming adversity, can increase your self-worth and confidence. Having career goals is another significant factor when considering your education. No matter if they are short-term goals or long-term goals, they both build off each other. That is why I have set in place and determined my career goals. One of my goals being, to further my education and to provide beneficial information to new clients that come through my office. Another goal that I wish to accomplish is to gain confidence in my career as a substance abuse counselor. Not only do I wish to gain confidence in my career, but, I also want to gain self-confidence.
