D. A. Re Program Pros And Cons

First of all, the D.A.R.E. program is a school based substance abuse, gang, and violence prevention. It was first introduced in 1983 after an abundance of teen-related crimes were at it’s peak. Criminal Justice branch's decided to join forces with the administrators in hopes of having a more significant impact on the students after each meeting. Ultimately, the decision paid off and has caused the program to continue, and even expand worldwide. As of today, the program has taught over two million students of the dangers that surround them, and are viable to ignore in order to maintain peace and order. Therefore, it’s important to value this program since it introduces the consequences of bad behavior, it provides the youth with an overall game

Program shows the results of poor actions. Although it’s the guardian’s job to discipline their child, it’s not always efficient, considering the way the guardian castigates differs throughout society. Consequently, law enforcement and administrators took it into their own hands to administer neutral actions, and to inspire the youth to exercise a positive attitude. Not only do they show the negative impacts when the suspect runs into legal issues, but also from the perspective of physical and mental situations. These problems can involve, drug abuse and alcoholism. Although these addictions can be seen to only occur when a person is approaching their more mature ages of life, it astonishingly occurs more often when they’re in their years of adolescence. This is a result of teens not being taught right from wrong when they were small, and less comprehensive to valuable teachings. Thankfully, the program has seemed to be very effective in leading youth to perform peaceful actions, rather than causing a mockery with a side of destruction. For example, a study by the Research Triangle Institution concluded that,” D.A.R.E graduates are five times less likely to initiate smoking compared with non-D.A.R.E. control groups”. Therefore, it is explicit to see that the program has had a significant impact on America’s youth, and therefore it should continue to be a funding priority for the national

As stated earlier, this program focuses on the goals of the students since they believe that the students will work to the best of their ability to achieve that goal, and won’t be distracted with possible actions that lead to consequences. Also, the students seem to have less confrontation with law enforcement after they have completed program. In other words, they are less likely to cause trouble with cops, which results in a more successful lifestyle since they won’t possess a criminal record. To add further knowledge, statistically this program causes students to have better attendance in the classroom. Although this may not seem like a big deal considering that attendance can be improved if it’s enforced regularly. However, if this organization has caused students to want to attend class, means that the program has had some sort of effect that altered the students decisions in a positive way. Also, not only are the decisions of teens altered, but for kids under 13 as well. It may seem like these age groups aren’t affected since they aren’t developed enough to be exploited to the costly actions that surround them. Nevertheless, this age group stills struggles with resisting bad influences since they don’t realize what they are getting themselves into. Luckily, children of young ages aren’t punished as bad as adults since they aren’t fully developed in terms of morals. As a result, the
