Social wellness also known as social health is part of the six Dimensions of Health. Social wellness is the ability to basically have and maintain a social life. There are a great many of examples of social wellness like in our everyday lives and even in movies especially the movie “Annapolis”. Social wellness is the part of life that allows us to have relationship with our friends and loved ones. According to the textbook “Access to Health” it explains that with social wellness we are able to quote “to give and receive love and to be nurturing and supportive in social interactions” (Donatelle 6).
The definition for wellness is “the quality or state of being healthy in body and mind”. The secular world view tells you that you are doing this for external reason. In the healthcare field, the definition of health occupies multiple meanings such as; • The condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit. • Freedom from physical disease or pain. • Condition or state. • State of complete physical, mental, and social well being To me, the definition of health means more than just the absence of disease. The definition of health includes all aspects of emotional, physical and nutritional balance.
According to Webster, Wellness is the state or condition of being in good physical and mental health. Although, African-American are considered to be the minority in America we are a huge fraction of the diseased American population. African Americans are 60% more likely to contract diabetes; also African Americans are more likely to suffer kidney disease, resulting from diabetes. 3 million African American’s have diabetes; the more astonish fact is that a third of the people with diabetes are oblivious to the fact they have it. African American’s develop high blood pressure earlier in life than other Americans; 45% of black women have the affliction.
These two concepts, mind and body, seem to have some sort of relationship, but the puzzling aspect is identifying what exactly that relationship entails. There are several theories that

Learning about the Eight Dimensions of Wellness can help us choose how to make wellness a part of our everyday life. Wellness is practical way to start developing healthy habits that can have a positive impact on our physical and mental health. The Eight Dimensions of Wellness are: Physical Dimension explains important of physical activity, exercise regularly, eat a well balanced diet, and maintain a healthy body weight and environmental exposure.
The wellness of a human being has been broken down into five sections. These sections are: emotional wellness, intellectual wellness, physical wellness, social wellness and spiritual wellness. I think my strongest section for my personal wellness is my emotion, intellect and physical wellness. However, my weakest sections are social wellness and spiritual wellness. I believe that my emotional wellness is my strongest section.
Various philosophers and scientists have inquired about the mind and body issue for a long time. The mind-body philosophies try to explain the way a person’s mental state and processes are linked to the physical state. The core of the mind and body is that individuals have a biased experience of an inner life that appears detached from the physical world. Although they are separated, they need to work together in some way. Individuals may appear to have physical properties and mental properties.
I will explore this question by looking at how this question has developed into two key schools of thought: Dualism and Monism. Dualism states that the mind is not physical and exists separately while Monism states that the mind and body are not separate. There are arguments for both theories and these dichotomous ideas have brought to light the mind-body problem, which I will analyse below. Wellness coaching is growing rapid over the years to help improve the quality of life and breaking old habits. Wellness coaching is based off positive psychology to help motivate and help people to reach their goals in their health (Collins, 2009). Wellness coaching focuses on the individual’s well-being and overall health by giving the individual support, motivation, and goals to get to where the individual wants to be (Grodzki & Allen, 2005). Wellness coaches are trained to help individuals to work towards his her goals that are focused on wellness and physical health (Nelson & Shckley, 2013).

Wellness is described as the accomplishment of success in these four areas or more. This is the reason why holistic health is not like allopathic health which focuses on the physical disease. Additionally, at these times, high proportions of people are suffering from obesity, which is being overweight and unhealthy. To be healthy, it is necessary to know how to, so there are three main tips that people have to follow in order to stay healthy.
