Success is not an attainment presented at birth; it is not a prize won in a random drawing. In order for success to transpire, aptitude, or the natural ability of an individual, physical ability, and the right attitude, or mentality must systematize to be what success is. However, how would one know what success is? How would an individual comprehend that they have applied everything of their being to achieve what success is defined by society?
Firsthand, how society defines success is unrealistic. Society depicts success as something that can occur naturally; the select few are people whom were born to rise above the rest. However, that idea that some individuals are born outliers is for the most part, not practical. People tend to come to the conclusion that success can be presented overnight to those who are “the lucky ones,” or naturally gifted. However, there are so many factors that must be in effect in order for success to result for someone that is considered average or above-average.
In the event of success, aptitude is the threshold. Whenever someone is striving to be or want something, they must reflect on their natural capabilities. Aptitude is the innate ability and skill-set to execute tasks given. The school system measures the aptitude of students by mandating standardized benchmark tests to grades as early as the second grade. By giving students these state-regulated tests yearly, it measures their innate or acquired ability to comprehend what they are taught throughout the school year. Aptitude is more so the basis of one’s intelligence that they are
